XFX vs. EVGA

who has which and which is better? i'm trying to choose which video card and motherboard i'm going to go with and its between these two companies.

i'm thinking i would go with EVGA for Mobo and XFX for video card. or would it be better to go with the same compan for video card and mobo?

Evga was my first choice for a while, because of their lenient warranty policy towards enthusiasts, but XFX just recently changed their policy to be similar, and I got a XFX card for free (somewhere else), so I'd say either are just as good as the other. :)

It shouldn't matter as far as same company for mobo/vid card, though.

I've never used XFX, but I've had both EVGA cards and mobos and I'm extremely happy with both. Both were excellent performers that I'd highly recommend.

My current rig is EVGA mobo (680i SLI) and Vid (8800gts320) and they both perform stellarly. No problems with either.

but I have never really heard of any issues with XFX.

I have never used XFX, but I like Zeus am also using the EVGA 680i mobo with a EVGA 8800GTS 640MB, and have had no issues with it running. 2 thumbs up for EVGA. Good luck on your choice

well from all the ^reviews^ i think i will deffently go with a EVGA mobo and maybe video card. i just have to look at the differences between the XFX 8800ultra (basic one) or a EVGA 8800GTX.

EVGA are without doubt the most reliable company as far as graphics cards go. I wouldn't buy their motherboards because ASUS make better motherboards, but for graphics cards there's absolutely no competition.

well i was orgianlly going to go with a striker but its to much and i've heard the EVGA (the EVGA NF68-A1 SLI Socket anyway) is better for overclocking.

EVGA's 680i SLI boards are very, very good. I have the 680i SE SLI (lower end, only lacking quad-core OC'ing compared to high-end versions) and I got my E6600 up to 3.3Ghz no problem. It wasn't as stable as I would have liked so I brought it down to 3.2Ghz, but I could have kept it at 3.3Ghz if I wanted.

I'll tell you something about those 8800 utra's from what I have heard, there is really no good reason to buy one. All it is, is an overclocked GTX with a much heavier price tag. You may want to reconsider it.

Also, just some food for thought, most current review sites are pointing out that the 8800 gts is really kicking but on anything that is currently out. So you could save yourself some major mulah if you consider this.

the XFX 8800Ultra (basic) (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3094314&CatId=2513) is 759.99 at tigerdirect right now and the XFX 8800GTX (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2776925&CatId=2513) is 844.99 again at tigerdirect. i'm not sure why that is but if i am going with XFX for video cards then i will get the ultra one. i also like the fact that the heatsink covers the whole card, well the plastic covers the card which i like. Canada computers has a EVGA 8800GTX (http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=011840&cid=999.243.390) for 659.99 which i'm thinking will will probably end up getting if i go with EVGA. edit i will get the tigerdirect EVGA (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2597917&CatId=2513) since it's 589.99. i will do some more research, thats all i can do anyway (got no money), and look more into that just being overclocked part. if it's true then i will definitely go with a 8800GTX vs. the Ultra. and as for the GTS vs. the GTX i'm going with a GTX to really future proof it. by the time the GTX running old i can just buy another one and it will be good for another while..
