hey, I was wondering if a motherboard is only capable of handling 533Mhz RAM
but your stick's are rated 667Mhz, are they then still compatible with eachother?

Supposed to.
The Mobo limit the frequency, so might work, but wont get the best out of the ram

Yep, it will just underclock it to what it can handle.

wouldn't the ram default itself to the mobos max potential?

Yep, that's what I meant. It will set the RAM to the highest the mobo can handle.

Depends on the Mainboards Vendor.

Use CPU-Z (http://http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-140.zip) To find out your Modules minimum and maxiumum Bus speed/Latency.

CPU-Z is a great utility.

And yes, a very high percentage of motherboards and RAM are backwards compatible. Case in point (no pun intended!), my PIII Fileserver maxes out at PC100 and I've got 3 sticks of PC133 in there. It automatically underclocks.
