Im new around the modding scene, and i really want to make my case stand out. So I have decided to actually put forth some effort and whatnot into making my own mod. So I guess i should explain what i am going for and then get to the questions.

Overall i guess you could say the case will be themed on A frozen hell of some sort. I have it all in my mind, and how its going to look. But before i get started i was wondering whats the best way to make custom parts. I was reading a little but there seems to be lots of different ways. Im going for cheap and easy (of course some effort is always involved.) Im looking for a somewhat cheap way to make some molds out of the objects i make with like modelling clay or something, problem is, i don't know what to make the molds or the final product out of. Also, one more question. Whats the best way to make artificial looking mist or steam? I was thinkin dry ice, but would that harm the circuitry?

two your questions are covered in 2 of crimsons cases.

If you take a look at the doom3 mod on page 3.

he uses a "smoker unit". If you look at the comments page of doom3 i believe there were more questions answered on it and its actually waht train enthusiasts use to have smoke coming out of the stack.

As for the molding you can take a look at the silicon rising(if this is the molding ur speaking of).

and a tutorial he said to use for the molding is here:

as for making custom parts it totally depends on what you're trying to achieve. And if you have experience in any area you would probably want to go with waht ur best at. As for me i havent started a mod yet but after looking thru crimsons work logs and at doom3 i think im going to use polystyrene but im sure it takes alot of practice to achieve what he does with styrene or hes just talented im sure hes both tho :P Anyways be a lil more descriptive on waht type of custom parts you want to make. Ill try and help you out more, im inexperienced with my hands but im well read sicne ive been going thru modding sits quite a bit.

Depending on the type of parts you want to make it can range from sheet metal, plexiglass, fiberglass etc. You can find a local metal shop for cheap "scraps" those guys just throw most smaller pieces out or sell them off cheap. I've had great results with fiberglass, although it is very time intensive you get exactly what you want and it's super strong if done right.
