Ok, I bought a multi function panel, the Akasa All in one which for some reason is spelt without capital letters or spaces. The unit itself is really tiny, but once i started assembling it, it came with a huge mass of cables. This thing wheighs nothing but when you drape all those internal connectors off the end of it, it ceases to be funny very fast. I finally got bout 70% of the connectors hooked up to something....though it doesn't quite work yet. I tell you, you need hours to work this one out!!

just thought i'd share my frustration...it's pretty looking thouhg :D

that panel is cool looking! I would like to have one, but I don't use those ports often enough to justify getting one..-J

Ah minty life is hard .. do you listen to music enough to justify getting one of these perchance?

(http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/caseaccessories/imon-ultrabay)Called an imon ultrabay from soundgraph takes two 5.25 inch bays Plays your music .. lists playlists .. shows system info .. has a volume knob (loool).. tells you the weather in Cancun .. :D:D:D:D Oh and you can turn your PC on and off from the sofa, play dvd's and listen to music with the remote control.

Im getting one in silver for my Birthday. I want to mod the housing of my Dell monitor to contain it. I might have to mod the imon so it just has the controls and display in the fascia with the guts back in deskpooter.

that imon ultra bay looks pretty sweet, now if it had a little brother that did stuff like fans, temp, usb, etc instead of music :(

it does: little brother Imon VFD about £50 in the uk ~ $90 USA plus the fan controller another £50:

iMON VFD is the most advanced IR receiver and VFD display device in the market. It not only delivers IR signal to PC but also shows various useful information through VFD. It is designed to fit into the 5.25” disk drive bay of PC.
It shows ’Graphical EQ‘, ’System Info‘, ’Media Info‘, ’Email Check‘, ’News‘, ’World City Time & Weather‘ and more.

Welcome, iMON

This Plug-in is for mCubed's T-Balancer Fan Controller (http://www.tomshardware.com/2004/11/22/mcubed/) and displaying Fan speed and the temperature of CPU. After changing iMON VFD Control Panel's mode to 'Plug-in Mode', run this program. This Plug-in is made by mCubed. Thanks to mCubed guys.

thanks for info.
Ill do some more research as the review was somewhat old and scared me at first..

"The T-Balancer still has some problems with USB 2.0 and you should avoid using these connectors at all costs. The current software version has huge problems with them and crashes more than often than it works"

seeing as its almost 3 years from the review the usb should be fixed. +rep

yr welcome. I dont know if the plug n uses the software or replaces it. that would be a place to start yr researches maybe. n thxs for the rep :D

like I say . also cheaper less whizz bang controllers out there .. let me look .... tick tick ...

"With Software (via USB2.0) the T-Balancer can be adjusted and configured in an easy way. Many Plug-Ins (iMON, Speedfan, MBM, JaLCD, LCDC, Samurize) are provided for the T-Balancer software. The software also enables long-term monitoring; an integrated USB watch-dog ensures a permanent USB connection."

thats more recent .. aha so the plugin uses the software. And anyway .. I think the one that started this thread is more up your street, the AKasa Allinone:

Pros:
has alot of functions

Cons:
extremely ugly
cant use usb/audio without opening flap
ugly small lcd

cons out weight the pros in my opinion, Imon is just too pretty to pass up.

That is a pretty nice looking piece of hardware. It's pretty much just what I have been looking for, for my upcoming "Transformer" build. I was looking for something sleek and yet simple, but still have nice functionality. Nice Find!
