Project: Prophecy

Im about to start my first big project, Prophecy. Orac and Epiphany inspired me to make this. This is based off my old lian li pc7 case *black* and will involve a color palette of blue, black, and chrome.

Here is a rough sketch in paint of the basic layout. (Probally change the front panel around some)

Ok. On the top right of the case where the PSU goes, there is a removable back playe to slide out your psu easily. Instead im going to mount the hd rack onto this, for easy removal of HD's. (something i do regularly). I will build a bottom frame out of aluminum angle to hold an old server motherboard (atm im running off two seprate cases, one for gaming and on for aim and such over a KVM switch) and both of the PSUs.

I'm going to put blue plexiglass ontop of the case over the top window, and a piece covering the whole front. The middle part of the picture is a possible front (blue plexi) and the far right is a variation I was thinking of to replace the middle fan circles.
I will be starting fully in a week or so, but i will post pics of the current pc7 once i get a camera in a few days.

How big will the case be? Would it be easier to have the server mobo's hard drives nearer to it? Probably not but its a thought.

yea thats what im thinking. I have 4 HD's, but only three can fit in my hd rack, so i will probably have the server one in the lower part somewhere. Size wise, this case will be about a foot taller than a lian li pc7. (sorry don't have a measure to see how tall my lain li is)

I say keep all of the server stuff in the bottom compartment.

Im going to do that, i like that idea. I doubt i will hook it up to the cd drive, buy maybe (i wont be using cd's for it)

You could always stealth a CD drive for the bottom compartment at the bottom of the case. If you do it well you wont be able to notice it.

or a external CDdrive is always a option. it all depends on the amount of time your gonna use your drive.

Alright good ideas. I was thinking wiring them up to a vandal resistant switch, and having all the power buttons, reset buttons, and cd drive buttons in one place, all looking identical. In a line or something of that nature. Thanks so much guys for your input so far.

hahaha thats exactly why. Its a 22inch widescreen 2ms 3000:1 dynamic contrast (1000: cont) samsung. Im still payin my dad off from it

Guess what. My dog thought it would be a great idea to knock a glass of water on my server motherboard, frying the whole setup. Since i wont be getting another one (it was my old computer) I guess i will not be doing to bottom rack. But i do have a few harddrives extra now from a friend, so im trying to juggle 3 of em (ide) on a single external adapter (one is sata, my main). So im thinking of making a big exclosure or something like that solely for harddrives, either that or build in that exclosure to a 5.25 bay and just turn it off and switch the hd's and turn it back on (not the computer, just the external adapter).

thats a main reason why you shouldnt have conductive liquids by our unprotected electronics :D that HDD enclosure sounds sweet. how many GBs of storage are you going to have on those 3 hardrives?

I want one of those Samsung monitors to replace my 19" but I don't want to pay $700AUS fot it lol.

haha, i dont know the exchange rates or anything, but 320 us = 700AUS? My main is 250, and i have a few 80's and a 20. Mainly use them as backup incase my 250 fails, im just trying to think how im going to do the external case without buying 3 25$ externals just for the adapter. Any ideas?

320US would be a lot less that 700AUS. Everything is so expensive over here :(

OK im back from camp! but, my parents forgot to tell me we are going on vacation in three days for a week, so ill try to finish all i can in the next few days, but after that nothing will be new. Gah, finally start a log and all is going wrong! :P
