i can get a free evaporator from work but what to know if anyone has used one before and if its worth it. i would say its about 2.5" thick, 15" or so wide and 15" 's or so long. i'm about 95% sure it's all alumium and i've heard thats not good for clean water. any truth to it? i would take some pictures but i have no camera.

it looks roughly like this, but dirty.

Clean water won't attack aluminium much. The oxide layer protects it. If you're that worried attach a little magnesium to the aluminium as a sacrifical anode (it rusts instead) but thats unnessesary.

It would work fine as a radiator though it may inhibit the passage of water differently to a normal one.

But there are so many more exciting things you could do with it....
