Hello everyone!

I am totally new to this forum and case modding, but I hope to dazzle you all some day with some cool mods!

My question of the day is a simple one. Where do you buy your Plexi from? I live in a somewhat midsized town with a Home Depot/Lowes and a few other hardware stores, but I just can't find good quality Plexi! I see you guys using real think glass and some colored stuff, but I can't find that stuff in the places mentioned. Do you have any other ideas of places I could look (General locations that I might have here as well) or do you buy your stuff online. I tried doing a search for info on plexi here first before I asked but no luck.

This place looks like a cool hangout for me as I love making things from scratch, and I've been thinking of doing a custom case anyway. I look forward to many posts here and showing you my talent. Thanks for any help you can give me and I hope I can be of some help to you all and others as well!

Howdy, Ace. . Check THIS (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8546) section for supplies.

Here are my Plexi LINKS (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showpost.php?p=109533&postcount=24) I would recommend Omnexus!
They will send you a Free Sample.

WHOA!!!! Hey thanks for the reply, Eclecticos! That's a mighty fine list of resources! I'll be having fun for the next couple of hours rummaging through that list for parts! Again, thanks for the reply and the warm welcome!

If you are looking for a local place to buy some plexi, you can go to home depot. I bought 1/8" plexi about 2'x2' for around $6-8. They had a tool that you can use to score the plexi and then break off the pieces for around $2. It's good if you are careful and are making straight cuts. I ended up cracking part of it and having to start over. They don't have a big selection, but if you just need a quick piece, and not looking for any plexi that's different colors, this is a pretty good place to go. They also do have 1/4" plexi, and regular glass if you were in need of those, too.

I buy my plexi from a local Glazier. They sell various sizes and colours cut to size along with the usual glass windows a glazier has.

What size would you want to use for building a case though? Would you go as low as 1/4"? I looked at some at Home Depot and thought it might be a bit skinny to use for the exterior of a case. I'm probably wrong, but it can't hurt to ask, right?

I never thought to look there but it only makes sense! I just looked in the phone book and we have 20 some glass companies around here so I'll have to start calling!

Hey thanks guys for the replies! I greatly appreciate the help!

I'm using 1/8" for the window and blow hole. If I was building a case out of plexi, I would use 1/4". 1/8" is not as sturdy and I don't think would make a good case. But, I've never built a plexi case, so not a lot of experience there. I have worked with 1/8" and 1/4" in various projects I have done in the past...Plus, I am not sure exactly how thick you can really find plexi without getting too expensive.
