View Full Version : Transformers freaking awsome

I was basically dragged to Transformers yesterday, since I don't really like movies of that sort. Now that I have seen it I can tell you it was a extremely awsome movie. The CGI in the movie was fantastic, and everything in my view went together perfect. Im a person I guess you can call a critic, that basically finds everything wrong in a movie. I only saw one thing but it wasn't big nor noticeable.
Anyways even if you don't like those type of movies I think you should go out and see it. I thought it was great as well as you probably would.

I saw the premier showing, it was damn good. Really impressed, amazing graphics, solid story, character development could have been better, but overall I give it two thumbs up. Damn glad I saw it.

Actually, a friend told me that's one of the cool things... that they thought about the "reality" of it... I mean, "reality" inside what you can consider.
We're talking about sentient, walking, talking fighting robots.
Eerrr... sorry, Transformers.
i will probably watch it on dvd.

they should dub the movies with english. you can't read and watch it at the same time. i had to watch Ong-Bak twice before i fully appreciated it.

It depends on who's watching, Spawn-Inc. I watched all but the first four episodes of Full Metal Alchemist with the original Japanese dubs and English subs, and didn't have a problem.
Isn't there an older Woody Allen movie where he bought a Japanese movie and redubbed it?
Anyway, sorry for threadjacking. I wanna see Transformers too, although I never actually did play with them as a kid.

i didn't have a huge problem just i missed some action scenes trying to read it. i guess it al depends on how fast you can read. while i'm a little bit skeptical about the transformers movie the transformers game looks interesting though.

I seen it today and might I say it did not disappoint. I was enthralled the whole time. I mean c'mon the ones of you who seen the original cartoon movie there a a few choice scenes that hit your heart like a fat kid gets hit in dodgeball. I highly recommend it.

Just saw it tonight. A lot funnier than I expected, but Michael Bay did his whole "Lets shake the camera so you cant see whats going on" thing again. Didn't like that, but thats my only gripe with the film.
Transformers!!!
Hmm... new mod? Hmm...
I could never do this mod, because I would want my PC to actually transform. I'd go crazy trying to figure out the micro controllers behind it.
-Cool-

well i don't think i would want it to transform. i would use optimus prime in his truck version. i'm not sure if i would go with the old or new though.
http://www.cinemablend.com/images/news/2959/_1152676073.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/grimlock5/RealOptimusTruck.jpg
but i would turn the fuel tanks into water reservoirs, the trucks rad into the 9X 120mm megicool rad. so there would be lots of space.
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/images/products/MC-Xtreme1080_01.jpg
maybe add 1 or 2 of the mini smoke/fog machines that where in the doom 3 case for the exhaust pipes. i think i would make the body from fiberglass to make it light. this thing would be HUGE!!!!!!!!!! maybe turn the winsheilds into dual 20" wides. hide the two water pump in the air filter canisters. would need tons of leds / CCFL's too. maybe turn the headlights into power/reset switches with leds so it still looks like a headlight. so now that you have all those ideas Crimson start working!

"Popular Mechanics has an in-depth look at the special effects behind the Transformers (http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/industry/4218826.html?series=6) movie, including some exclusive shots from Paramount Pictures. Apparently, using real cars as models presented some interesting problems for the folks at Industrial Light and Magic, who had to figure out how a recognizable chunk of steel can fold into robot. In the end, the solution was the development team getting hands-on in the auto shop. And lots of grease."

Guess who just got a Transformers t-shirt from her dad who works in the film industry? It's absolutely massive, guess I'll be wearing it as my PJs in summer.
A movie poster of it will be on the way soon too I'm guessing, and it will fit perfectly in that gap on my bedroom wall between that Pirates of the Caribbean poster and that Take the Lead poster. w00t.
Fun fact: On the opening weekend of Transformers, a pirate DVD of it was leaked. They tracked it down to the Phillipines, which is the only country in the world that doesn't use aliases when transporting their film.
Another fun fact: My dad has several spools of film of the newest Harry Potter movie sitting on his desk in his office. They have Harry Potter film coming out of their ears, you're likely to trip over a stack in the hallway as you walk 20 meters to the bathroom.

LOL.. I'll have to keep a watch out for that version!
There is only one LA version, and it was the typical big screen adaptation of a tv series... "Dont make it faithful to the series, make it sell". There were two things that really bugged me about it. First, Bunta (Takumi's Dad) was NEVER abusive to him in the series. Second, a movie set in Japan, about Japanese kids driving Japanese cars was all shot in China with Chinese actors. Ummm...

Transformers look badass.. I'll be going to see it when it gets here in my small town.

Your token asian is here to correct you on the annoying technicalities which don't really matter! That movie starred my 2 favourite asian singers - Edison Chen and Jay Chou. Edison Chen is, in fact, Canadian (technically), and Jay Chou is Taiwanese. Jay Chou was Takumi and Edison Chen was one of the other drivers, can't remember which one precisely. Anthony Wong (Bunta) and the fat guy ARE Chinese though.
The girl who acted Takumi's girlfriend was Japanese, and in the filming of the movie, she was speaking Japanese while they were all speaking Chinese, and they had no idea what the other was saying.

Sorry guys, that movie is not that good.
- Dialogs are cheesy.
- I never saw so much advertising in one movie.
- The end is too simple: some haven't see the movie, so I wont say anything else on that part.
- Total American propaganda. (Sorry for those who want some...)
- The director made also a couple of advertising on his others movie.

The movie seems to be receiving fairly good ratings from what I can tell, as for myself, I agree with them. This movie is no *Pan's Labyrinth, but I think as a summer flick, its great/perfect. It's definitely worth seeing at least once, unlike Shrek 3, which I thought was somewhat of a let down. Shrek 3 was a good... Shrek movie, but I wouldn't recommend it otherwise and I wouldn't want to see it again any time soon. For Transformers, yea, I would probably go see it again with family and/or friends as a social activity if there wasn't anything else to do.
I will say however, that I wish I couldn't agree with Slytherock, if only somewhat. I went in expecting this movie to be an instant classic that everyone can enjoy time after time again. I wouldn't say this is true for Transformers, its a good summer flick, but thats it. When I pull out the Transformers DVD and the 300 DVD for a good action movie for the night, I'll probably choose the 300 movie.
/.02
*only referenced for comparison as its one of my absolute favorite movies.

Yeah, but the advertising was COOL. That's the thing. Yeah, that '07 Charger? Yeah. That's Bumblebee. Bitchin'. That Mountain Dew vending machine? Yeah, that's a robot too.
But yeah, some of the dialoge WAS cheesy. Mainly the stuff like when Starscream transformed from the jet into, well, Starscream, and he said "Starscream!" or when Optimus was like "Megatron!" and then Megatron said "Prime!", but still, it was a bitchin' movie
if I can find an '07 Charger/Bumblebee transformer, I WILL own it. =D

I completely agree with you. ...for the first 1/4th or 1/3rd of the movie. It seemed to go down hill after that, like it was very much an adult movie at first, then it kind of turned more into a "kid" movie.
also, I just saw it again today. Confirming what I originally thought, in my mind at least. The dialogue (dialog?)... is just poop. Some of the actors weren't really truly convincing either. They seemed like... actors.
I don't know, this movie just wasn't "real" enough for me. I like movies that can either be totally plausible or totally not, like transformers, but the way the movie was created it almost makes you feel like it was plausible, or like you just finished watching a bitchin episode of the "History Channel". lol
What do you guys think?
**
Also, I will say that I loved the sounds, even the voices ...although I would of preferred THEIR language and then with subtitles for translation. I thought that totally kicked major ass and I wish they would of stayed with it.
Also again, they did a sort of "change it up but keep some of the original material" move. I almost wish they would of did a total change up, as the parts that were different from the original transformers I thought were awesome while the parts that were taken from the original transformers was almost cheesy-ish.
also also, some parts of the movie were very stereotypical of a movie, like the boy getting the girl in the end and or hooking up with her. gah, thats starting to get old if you ask me. change it up some, think more creatively or something.
I would of enjoyed it much much more if "Bumble Bee" got the girl at the end of the movie! :p

w00t! Update!
Finally went to see Transformers!
Very, very nice.
I would have edited out the cheesy parts.
More war. More fire and more explosions. More destruction.
And for the life of him, that kid was a doofus. His genes will cease to exist soon enough. =\
I liked the transformations, although I couldn't follow them.
I was able to spot a driveshaft here, and a ring-pinion... but they moved so fast...
The Camaro was amazing. Both of them!
I would take the rusty old bucket any day of the week!
The engine on it looked sw33t... although, contrary to what Mrs. Mechanic said, it didn't have "one" carburator... I saw eight of them!
The smashing of the backyard was funny... although I don't understand how interstellar intelligent bio-organisms permitted, a highly-screwed up conversation, to take presedence over the freaking glasses. WTF?
A nice high-speed run shot in the Camaro would have been super cool... and, IMHO, I'm happy that BumbleBee was a Camaro... 'cause I really wouldn't have cared much for him if he was a 'bug.
IT OPINION/RAMBLING::::
Why is it, that Hollywood, feels the need to make an entire new operating system GUI from scratch for each movie?
It's like "Hey, we're running... some fancy militray-spec OS. Oh, THAT 3D pie chart with the colors and numbers? That's the voltage across the UPS"
And what was up with the ""analysis"" of the virus/hack?!?!
"The signal"???? The signal? What signal?
What the hell?
They're reading packets now as an acoustic signal? Or a freaking RADIO signal hacked military mainframes?
What's the super ""The chinese aren't doing this... The Koreans are in the north... Iran is the wrong culprit...""
GUAT?
Hollywood, PLEASE, consult geeks before hand.
/rant
The war scene inside the city at the end was very cool.
MegaTron is one nasty, mean MoFo.
I laughed my butt off at various times.
Like when AllSpark compressed... the dude says "Anything's possible! Did you see that! Like... small... ..." LMAOOO!!!!
Hey, what the heck's up with Starscream???
He a good guy? Bad guy? Undecided?
You're attempting to be a bad guy.

I've seen it now tis awesome
Some parts had me in stiches.
like:
"The boy's testosterone levels indicate he wishes to make love to the girl" or something along those lines.
Going to have to get this on DVD and hopefully they will put in some extras about the cg, and then i can play the transformations in slow-mo to see where they skipped bits lol
