I have 2 questions, one is, i think I got a virus, becouse evrytime I install avast, and re-start, it delete's the key files of avast, and also my spybot is deleted.. any idea

and my second question, (might be tied in) is that one of my folders is "gone" (I cant find it in my browser) but if I type out the path, it's still there.

any Idea's? hints? or anything?

thanks

Start in safe mode, disable everything in msconfig, see if you can start up normal after that. Try to run an online scanner like Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/startcorp.asp).

I already have disabled evrything in msconfig :) and it wont seem to let me connect to the internet anymore.

I think I'm gonna re-boot my computer, about time I did that anyway.

Try LTools (mentioned earlier). It opens up everything :p.

hey thanks for the sugestion, but I just fixed it (I had to shred my HDD, formatting wouldn't get rid of it) plus I don't think LTools would have worked since it didn't even want to boot any linux cernerls.

but thxs for the reply :)

Show Hidden Program or System Files

Showing hidden files can come in handy—for example, say you've tried to delete everything from a floppy disk and the disk properties still indicate 100K of disk space is being used by hidden files.

To see hidden files:

1.On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.

2.Click the View tab.

3.Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.

Note To access Windows Explorer, click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.

Run a Online Virus Scan (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/)

More than likely a Trojan is Ghosting that particular folder.
I have this problem many times before. . and dismantled it bit by bit.

Some Tips.
Go Run -=> MMC if it dosen't open .. or deny's you as the administrator access its probably a trojan.
Try Regedit, Sysedit, MSconfig, Ect. .

If they just disappear. .or don't load at all. Go -=> Run: Command SFC /scanall
. .Good tip if your having this error "Windows Installer service could not be accessed"

If you have Vista it may just be in a virtual store location.
