spray painting my computer

OK this is my first time spray painting my computer and have a few basic questions?

I currently have NZXT Silver Apollo case. I was wondering can I just spray paint over each panel on my pc with spray paint? Or do I have sandpaper my panels on my pc? And if i do then how much do I have to sand it down? After I sand it down then can I spray paint the panels? please no links or something or long articles.. just some basic info please. thanks oh yeah and this is my second post only..so im new :D
