The 5th one was great.
And to all - goodnight.

I just watched it. It was fantastic, but they failed at trying to cram an entire book into a movie. If I hadn't read the book, I wouldn't have understood most of it.
Harry looks so much older now, compared to the last movie, it's scary.

I'm going to see it later, it should be good so long as I find my spare contacts, it's ever so fun being blind. Whatever.
Yeah, taking three years to make a movie causes the actors to age three while the characters age one. But yeah, movies off of books are usually awful, LoTR was better than I thought it would have been.

Definitely. There were a lot of parts they totally didn't explain that only book readers would catch up on.

I saw it, it was great. I liked the part in that...
WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILER
...ahem, as I was saying (before the spoiler warningbot ever so rudely interrupted), I liked the part where Dumbledore had Voldemort in that spinny water sphere, that was cool.
Solved the contact solution too, got an eye doctor appointment right before the movie. Don't ask, it was my grandma's idea. I swear that was the fastest I'd ever been to the eye doctor, it took the guy about fifteen minutes to check my eyes and give me contacts that are a knockoff of the brand I usually use. I like the other brand better, more comfortable.

I read a review somewhere. It said something like: 'a visual aid to those who read the book'. I agree with it. It doesnt work too well as a stand alone movie. But as a continuation of a much larger story, I loved it.
I still reckon that each book would probably make 2 good films....

Definitely. That way they wouldn't have to briefly skim over each individual topic/event/major thing in the book without going into any detail. I can't believe they missed out the fact that Ron and Hermione were prefects! That whole Cho thing was almost as if they'd added her in as an afterthought, just to keep the fans happy. The whole story barely linked up.

I hated it.
I own every book, I own ever movie, I love all things Potter-esque, but I hated this movie.
The beauty of the Potter movies was that even if you had never read a book, they were decent stand alone movies, this one was decidedly less so...
Granted, this was a difficult book to work with, this was the "I am a sullen, petulant, orphan and noone believes me" book, easily the worst of the books so far, but still...
On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 3 and a half.

I don't know if it is real or fake, someone I know with "connections" sent it to me but a brief search of the web shows the same page on a lot of spoiler sites so it could be a hoax...

I'm not into the books, nor the movies, but I found this super interesting.
It's a study saying that when the book came out, visits to the hospital by children where cut in half (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/03/health/03safe.html?ex=1293944400&en=bd5ce2c88c162923&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss).
Interesting.

Not according to the New York Times, or the Wiki entry for that matter.
I just basically read the cliff notes version. One of these days I'll read the whole series.

Hmm. The last pages didn't have that. Maybe I will have another look.
Lol The UK version which is the Australian versions has less pages. Which means the American version has bigger font. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Page Count 608 (UK), 759 (US)

Here's my view:
Who cares if that's the last page or not? If the series didn't have a "happy ending" then J.K. Rowling would probably have an angry mob at her house for "ruining the series" or something like that. Most (successful) books have happy endings anyway. In fact, that eliminates guesswork for me, now I don't have to read the last book at all! Just kidding, I'm curious to see how all the events work out. If they have any left I'll see if my mom won't pick up a copy and I'll let my brothers read it first so as not to be rushed through it.

I heard on the news that some girl got a copy that was missing 30 pages. lol
She decided to keep it although the book store offered a replacement.
Also, at the book's debut the fans were all dressed like "wizards."
Happy Potter fans are a bit strange. o.0

I must say that I, myself, was slightly disappointed by the ending of the book. I would personally have flown to the UK, stood outside J.K. Rowling's house and applauded her if she had ended the book with "Voldemort raised his wand. There was a flash of green light, and then Harry woke up."
Spoiler alert:
And Harry said, "Kids, you two siblings were named after the two people who had sex to make Daddy. Albus Severus, you were named after 2 headmasters of Hogwarts, one of whom murdered the other."

The only problem with that is that it's kind of a cliffhanger. I don't read the HP books but if I did and saw that, I would want to know what happens after that. Where does Harry go? Were the past years at Hogwarts all just a dream and the real adventure hadn't even started? y'know, stuff like that.

Since yr 5, we've had it drummed into our heads that the 2 worst ways to end a story are:
1. And then I woke up. It was all a dream!
2. I can't remember, but I'm sure there is no worse way to end a story than number 1.
I didn't like the epilogue. I really wanted to know what happened to EVERYONE in the story (maybe I'm just a 'nosy git' as J.K. Rowling would have put it), I find that sort of thing really interesting. It just kind of ends with Harry, Ron, Ginny and Hermione and their kids. Who does Draco marry?? What happened to everyone else in the Order of the Phoenix? Did Bill and Fleur ever have any kids? What happened to Kreacher? So many questions left unanswered!!

I just reread the spoiler that Ironcat put up.
Nineteen years later.
Any Stephen King fan knows how important that number is.
Perhaps Rowling is a King fan?
More evidence: 7 Dark Tower books. 7 Harry Potter books.
Tom Marvolo Riddle: 16 letters + 3 words = 19
He Who Must Not Be Named: 19 letters
Aberforth Dumbledore: 19 letters
Harry James Potter: 16 letters + 3 words = 19
If you're wondering just what in the hell I'm getting at here, here's a wiki entry on the importance of the number 19 (http://www.thedarktower.net/wiki/Main/Nineteen). One thing I found interesting was entry 144:
The 'Sneetch' weapon (based on Harry Potter) has the serial number 465-11-AA HPJKR. Using A = 1, 4+6+5+1+1+1+1 = 19.
Perhaps all things do serve the Beam?
Or maybe I'm just obsessed?

Yesterday, i finished the 7th after 2 days. The epilogue was okay, but i think there could be an entire 200 page book just explaining exactly what happened in the years after hogwarts. What is harry's job? what does everyone else do? What happened in the 6-7 years after the death of voldy before ginny and harry had their first child? what houses do the children get thrown into? will there be a bit of a drama where one kid gets in slytherin and the other in hogwarts?
and who is draco married to? what happened to all the death eaters and voldy's followers after he died? did they just give up?
answers ms. rowling! answers!

I think the world is already so saturated with HP fanfics that we'll all just have to kill ourselves if people start writing more. Which they will, undoubtedly.
All the HarryxDraco fangirls will be in tears for months now, but they'll find a way to write a fanfic like 'Draco was always in love with Harry, so he journeyed to Godric's Hollow and found an old jug, which was actually Harry's twin sister transfigured so as to protect her from Voldemort! When Harry found out he flew into a jealous rage, killed his twin sister, left Ginny, and he and Draco ran off into the sunset together.'

The problem with most fanfics is that try as they might, they never seem to quite get the same feel as the original author. Having said that, I really doubt that any other fanfic could top...

So here I am, finising up "Order of the Phoenix", then, when I finish it, I continue on to the next book. Deathly Hollows. ...you think I would of noticed after 6 chapters in that I skipped a book! ARGH! lol alone time with ginny? WTF IS THIS BOOK TALKING ABOUT?? ...oh... I skipped a book. TALK ABOUT A SPOILER! lol XD
BTW, Deathly Hollows is pretty good so far. It's AMAZINGLY shocking if you skipped the Half Blood Prince.

Reminds me:
When the 3rd Lord of the Rings came out, I went to see it with my brother to the theater.
As soon as the movie started, I was asking questions.
Who's that? Why are they there?
When did that happen? Who said what? Who did what? When?
So 8 minutes into it, my brother turns to me, looks at me seriously, and asks:
Dude, did you see the second movie?:?
And I go like:
Well, I guess. I got to the end where they leave the shore of a lake in a canoe.
Bro: That's the first movie dude.
