Pretty sure thats the problem. Already tested monitor on another PC.

Was playing CS:S, when suddenly my screen goes all crazy, then locked up. I figured it was just one of those random bugs, so I restarted, and even during POST the screen was messed up, pixels kinda going everywhere and funky looking boxes.

Took card out, it felt warmer then it should. Fan seemed sluggish and wouldnt spin freely by flicking it with my finger, so i'm guessing thats the problem. I put it back in after about 15 minutes, got past post and to windows login screen before it started in again, then everything locked up.

So, whats the equivalent of a Geforce 4 TI 4600 these days? I dont want to spend an arm or a leg either, just get something equivalent to 5-year old tech, because im dropping over 2k on a new rig once the Q6600 drops.

hmm, you (by the sounds of it) might beable to save your card by fixing the fan so that it'll run freely, though a replacement shouldn't be too hard to come-by, you can get alot of decent cards for cheep (especially online like newegg or whatever.) might wanna go with one with a tad more memory imo, but yea.. I'm probaly not the best to answer this question, I'm shure there will be some Video peeps coming along soon enought to help you....

cheers

Yeah, I did get the fan spinning again, but the card keeps on doing the same thing, so I'm guessing the damage is permanent.

if you have an extra fan or two aim it/them at the card and see what happens. otherwise wait and don't waste money the q6600 is supose to dropp on the 22nd i heard.
