Right. Forgive me if this is a repost but it's kind of meant to be...

I remember seeing somewhere recently, possibly this forum, a link to some amazing cakes. I just stumbled across them again, but there seem to be a lot more on this page.

So, if it was here, enjoy the ones you didn't see before.

if it wasn't here, enjoy them all.

(for further entertainment, just keep changingng the number in the url, I suggest 1106 for starters)

The cakes are nice, although fondant is super easy to use. It makes the cakes look pretty but it isnt so great for flavor, tastes like a sugary play-doh.

I'd rather have a cake that had better flavor then something that looked nice.

That stuff is not the quality for eating, it is too far above that, that stuff needs to be put in a museum.

But yeah, I'm with D1337 for the flavor of the cake, not the play-d'oh!ness

This isn't near the same caliber, but it is a cake question that I've been wondering. What is that outer layer that Baskin Robins puts on their cakes? It doesn't taste like frosting. I'm not sure if it is that fondant stuff you guys are talking about. Tastes a bit like soft serve.

For example, the brown stuff of this cake of theirs.

It's probably some kind of ice cream **** or something like that... you never know with those companies. It may even be soft serve. (Hippo + Elephant + Rhino = Hell if I know.)

Ice cream cakes scare me, cause its all bland and cold :(
They are the equivalent to cardboard stuffed food in asia

Fondant is very picky too, if you dont moisten it everyday or so it will start to crack and rip on its own.

Yes, i used to watch the food network 24/7.
watch Ace of Cakes, they do mostly fondant if you want to see how it looks and how its applied.
