While I'm waiting on the rest of the bits to turn up so I can do more work on the Mini-Rat, I thought I'd start on my next project.
This will be my new PC for internet/email/general stuff and will be switched on basically 24hours a day, just like my current main PC is.
However my Celeron D is crap, so I wanted to upgrade and I want to keep this PC fairly small.
It also has to be as dust proof as possible as being turned on all the time and in a small room with a smoker, can lead to a lot of crap getting into the case.
So there may be a few compromises looks wise to keep it dust free.
The case I'm using is an Acer case:

It doesn't take a full size ATX MoBo, only the shorter ones with 4 expansion slots. The tool less drive bays actually work quite well and will be easier should I need to change out a hard drive.
Tonight I started by doing a basic mod, the side window. I decided to only have a small window and follow where the vented side was.
The unmolested case side:

The window cut out and paint stripped off:

And some undercoat on, ready to Bondo the acer logo out of existence:

This case I am thinking of painting blue and having the usual blue lights inside. Cable management of course, plus it will get a blow hole as well.
The front is what I am undecided on. I want two 80mm fans in the front with dust filters, but I'm not sure if I'll use the standard front and modify it, or make a new custom front. That will come later while I think about it and what I want to do.
The motherboard I have bought for it is a Gigabyte GA-VM900M. I could have reused my current MoBo and just replaced the processor for something better, but it only has AGP for the graphics card and I wanted to upgrade to a better PCI-e card too, so the new MoBo was in order.

As you can see, nothing too fancy, but it will do what I want.
