View Full Version : Mini Epson Monitors for TBCS!

AJ@PR

Hey guys,

I was at CompUSA earlier today... and right by the side of the first cashier, there are the "Sales Table".
So I looked, and I saw these small Epson monitors at 98 cents.

I have no use for them... but at 98 cents... I mean, c'mon!

So I bought all 4 of them.

I'm uploading pictures, so if any of our members needs/wants one, they're here.
All I have is these 4.
They're supposed to be used for certain Epson printers... they're like a "preview" monitor for the printers.
It's a tiny screen, but it's color.
Two pictures uploaded here... for the second one, I couldn't find quickly a ruler, so I included a memory RAM stick I have in my keychain... that should give you some idea as to how big they are.

All I ask is for people to pay the shipping.
No need to pay the one dollar of the monitor's cost.

If anybody wants/needs more information, let me know and I'd be happy to try and answer it.

w00t!

Ok... 3 left.

Roger!
2 left.

The only reason I'd like the shipping cost covered is because I have no idea how much it'll be.

How I'd like the money... I dunno.
If PayPal doesn't work Bucko, and it isn't too much, just send me Aussie bills!
That'd be cool... have Aussie bills over here.

Girl: Wow! Australian money! Where you get this?!
AJ: Ah... nothing... last time I was down under...

My PayPal account only has Aussie dollars in it, I'm not sure if it converts to US dollars if I pay or what.

My State and Post Code is: New South Wales, 2304.

Let me know what shipping is worth and we'll go from there. I'm sure we could work something out if need be where I send you something from Australia.

You can transfer some to your US$ balance to pay with.

Crazy Buddhist

Paypal automatically converts the currency to the type used by the receipient. It is up to you, however, to do the conversion before hand, and pay in Aussie, what it will cost him in US$. (PR is US territory... so American $ is what he's working with) -Jeremy :)

Yeah .. or .. as I said above .. I have a Euro paypal balance, ŁUK paypal balance and US$ paypal balance in my account. I can move funds between them then pay in the currency I want or do it as you said.

The full list of currency balances you can maintain concurrently in one paypal account is:

Pound Sterling
Australian Dollar
Canadian Dollar
Czech Koruna
Danish Kroner
Euro
Hong Kong Dollar
Hungarian Forint
New Zealand Dollar
Norwegian Krone
Polish Zloty
Singapore Dollar
Swedish Krona
Swiss Franc
US Dollars

Thanks for the help. :)

Friend has an Epson DX3800, not sure if i could get one of these for him if its compatible? Not sure about the printer at all

Lairy Fiquid,
1st off, I like your name.
Nice play on letters/words. :)

2nd, if you want one, cool.
If you need it, better... if not, maybe we can let a moddin' member here come up with something for it.
Again, if you still want it, I have no qualms sending it over to you.

If Lairy Fiquid doesn't get it, there's still 1 camera left people.
Open to takers (depending on LF)!

Now:::
Minty, Bucko, and Computer-Geek,
I have your postal codes... I'm going to run up to the US Postal Service office, and check out the shipping charges to your places. :)

Will update soon.

PeaceE!

It's not compatible its only compatible with the 925 and 825 Epson photoprinters

I see this as crying out to be modded to display the multiplier on an AMD chip .. it's not big enough for anything else ... unless you get two (and make a pair of monitor-glasses) .. lol :D

Awww man... I bought all the ones I saw.
I have to go back to return an external hard disk I bought (stupid FireWire), so I'll check (tomorrow I go) to see if they put any more up on the table.

Updating regarding Shipping costs:::
1- Minty
Meng, your cost is like $5
So I put it up... and don't worry 'bout pay...
:) *cough* hdd *cough* *cough*
:p

2- Computer-Geek
Your cost is the same as Minty's. $5.00
That's USPS Priority... either you send it over PayPal... or I give you my address and you send the money (cash shouldn't be sent... but lord... a 5 dollar check)... or if you're in a crunch, just skip the shipping payment altogether. :)

3- Bucko
The cheapest way is under 9 dollars (US).
Priority is almost $13 (US) and USPS Express is almost $25.
Up to you how you want me to send it! :)

4- Crazy Buddhist
I need your postal code for the UK to check the shipping cost. :)

Send it using the cheapest $9 mail. I'm not in a rush. I'll either pay you via Pay Pal, or I'll send you some Aussie notes for you collection. It's up to you.

That's the point, we don't fold them. We put them nicely in our wallets so they fit in the cash tills properly without cashiers having to fumble around with them for 5 minutes before giving you change, or so that you can pull it out of your wallet quickly.

Aussie money is awesome and colourful, and is a surefire way to get chicks. And as Bucko said, if it goes through the wash, you won't find yourself $50 poorer.

Photos of our currency from the Reserve Bank of Australia.

Due to the special nature of our currency it is very hard to counterfit apart from been made out of Polymer it has a number of UV reactive components. Many tiny details that can only be seen under a microscope such as whole famous Australian poems in microprint are present on some of the notes. The notes also feature a clear window in them. The printers that print onto the notes do the top and the bottom at the same time so the back and the front match up perfectly when the note is held up to the light.

No offence, but the way that the number value is written on the australian bills looks really freakin stupid. It's like someone accidently pressed "o" instead of "0" when designing the bills, which gives you a stupid "1o" instead of "10".

Eclecticos: Sure, I'll swap you 10 bucks, especially when the exhange rate means I'll get a profit of about $3.

AJ: Yes, the notes are different sizes, they get bigger as they go up, so 5 is the smallest and 100 is the largest. Is that the same for US money?

And yes, our notes are totally 1337er than yours. They're also cooler because they're NOTES, not bills. A bill is something you get in the post asking you to pay copious amounts of money for electricity you didn't even use because your suburb was in blackout for most of the month.

The tiny writing is really entertaining too, I've sat for many a long hour waiting for my mum to pick me up from school as a small child, reading 'The Man from Snowy River' (a famous Australian poem) on the $10 note. There's something for you to do if you're ever bored.

Nope. Not the same.
I read not long ago that the currency of the USA will change slightly, probably, because it's unconstitutional for the blind people... as they can't differentiate amounts by touch.

I do that with every cereal box I get, it provides me with about 2 minutes of entertainment.
Take your typical Milo cereal box for example-
Back: Eat milo cereal, grab a bike and get active! Then eat more milo cereal!
Side: How much milk to add to milo cereal to get a great taste! But it tastes great anyway!
Other side: Milo cereal is healthy for you! It gives you energy and rots your teeth! Eat milo cereal!
Front: Read the back of the milo cereal box for 'cool ways to get active with milo cereal!'

I only eat it because it tastes good.

I just realised how off-topic this has become, sorry about that.

Mal it is perfect but if you read the thread carefully plugging it into yr vga port isn't a good idea. It looks like the LCD controller circuit is in the printer and you need to buy a controller circuit to do anything useful with this.

Anyways, damn, this one is tough. It least since I know the pinouts for VGA it'll be a little easier... but still. I think I may have to resort to plugging random wires into random holes :p (just kidding)

Did you read the last post? It says that is not the case ;).

I did but I took a view that was one of the least researched posts in the thread ... like I said .. let us know if you discover different but I thought this more relevant and better researched:

"Now, what you'd need to know additionally to make this work, is to find within the PRINTER the LCD controller chip that runs the LCD. Since Epson has a Semi-Conductor division that produces LCD controllers (ie. the SED13xx line of LCD controllers), you can be probabaly assured it's gonna be an Epson chip inside that printer.

Note: the serial data stream that this display is using is definately NOT electrically compatable with your serial port, and more than likely not a standard 8n1 signalling scheme that could be used with your generic UART serial port. It is likely you will need to use a SED13xx series controller in serial mode to run this display. You can verify this by pulling apart the printer and looking for any of the Epson SED series LCD controller chips somewhere on the Printer's main or sub-assembly circuit boards."

I think the answer to these screens is to use the other threads people have established elsewhere on the net. You need a controller as it isn't in the screen it's in the printer.
