Just replace it with Arctic Silver 5 and lap the base of the heatsinks, that should help.

i would lap the base but there is foam (spacers i think) on them plus, i don't want to risk bending the pipe. i don't have this working yet, lack of money, so i'm passing the time by doing little things here and there. i just wanted to show some people because i've heard that people who get the C1 memory error say its related to the crappy cooling. but yes i did change over to AS5.

You could remove the pipe and keep the stock South bridge cooler and get an after market North bridge cooler. That's what I was going to do if I went for the ASUS P5N32-E SLI. I considered that board but ended up going with the DFI 680I LT motherboard because it looks so damn cool and gives you complete freedom to add an after market North bridge cooler. I stuck a Thermaltake Extreme Spirit 2 on and couldn't be happier, cools well and looks great.

well once i have the 8800 gtx or ultra (leaning to ultra) i am going to half to have the same sized cooler otherwise it will hit the video cards heatsink. once i start water cooling and have been doing it for a while i might start water cooling the n/b and s/b.

Yeah, this was posted soon after the AR boards came out. By the way, EVGA sells a southbridge cooler:

Though the fan is probably going to be a bit noisy...

ya that fan the mobo came with is high pitched loud when i tested it for the C1 error. i should be getting a psu some time soon ( aug 29th) so then all that will be left is cpu, ram, gpu and another harddrive. i'm tring to get a old cheap video card just to get things running since the one i wants 700.

Well at the moment I have a 6600GT and I can tell you it really sucks, always crashes. I know you can get them cheap though.

You're going to be a little hard pressed to find anything decent. It may be a case of go with what you have and later upgrade.

It's what I'm having to do with my graphics card.
