EDIT: WOW no-one got a clue?????
I have found a supplier of 5.7" and 7" widescreen TFT's with a touchscreen panel at £90 or ~ $180 and £100 or ~ $200 respectively including taxes, described as below:
PDF of the 5.7" (http://www.anders.co.uk/DownloadFile.asp?r=n&fileID=970) .....
PDF of the 7" (http://www.anders.co.uk/DownloadFile.asp?r=n&fileID=973)
From the 7" description:
4. Application
This specification is applied to the 7 inch WVGA supported TFT-LCD module, and can display true 262,144 colors(6 bit/ color). The module is designed for OA, Car TV application and other electronic products which require flat panel display of digital signal interface. This module is composed of a 7”TFT-LCD panel, a driver circuit and LED backlight unit and used as the input devices for general electric appliances via both finger and pen-entry.
5. Features
- WVGA (800×480 pixels) resolution.
- Digital 18 bit parallel RGB.
- Dot inversion mode with stripe type.
- Wide viewing angle technology is employed.
[The most suitable viewing direction is in the 12 o’clock direction.]
- Transparent Touch panel
* 4-Wire
* Analog Resistive
I am unclear as to how much work I will need to do to get that working with a PC and how much extra kit I might need - pointer's from those in the know would be welcomed.
I'm also not clear about whether these prices are reasonable (they are low from what I can tell in the UK but the dollar is weak which slants things for most of you).
