Thanks for the link, They're on their way to me now <3

I've been meaning to upgrade my speakers for a while now, but hey, 280 watts for $123 after rebates + shipping = More than 2 watts/dollar, can't pass that up.

280watts is their mean power. 560 peak.

I have the system sitting on my bed and I'm about to clean my room and put it in.

All I have to say is "Holy jesus titty".

The box is bigger than my dog.

Pics to follow.

... I am soooo tempted to buy these, my hands are twitching. Especially because the rebate goes on for quite a while.

DAMNIT, do I want speakers that work (I currently have what would be considered a 1.0 setup; no sub, 1 working speaker) or do I want supplies for my upcoming log?

Omega, I'm counting on you to convince me either way. I'm pretty sure a review is mandatory :p.

Buy the speakers.

I can't seem to get the surround to work (yet, but I will do it some time today) but even as 2.1 speakers, they're just so awesome. And to think, the neighbors complained when I had a 40/80 system, how they'll complain now that I have a 280/560 system

Seriously, Mal, buy them.

I think I'll go play some BF2 to see if the surround for that works.

Omega
08-13-2007, 08:22 PM
Oh, but keep in mind

After shipping, it's 160$, then the rebate makes it 120$.

And the box is heavy. 42lbs, to be precise...

I think I'll buy them. My 1 2 watt speaker (actually, it's probably not even that much) isn't cutting it. I'll probably do it tomorrow.

And I can get them for $90-ish. $40 for rebate, $20 for PayPal, and if you can use 2 promo codes, $5 for the one Greco posted. Nice  I was debating on whether I should just use my guitar amp for my speakers since it has stereo in and I have a stereo to stereo cable, but then I'd need to move all my guitar stuff downstairs  Speakers it will be.

You won't be dissatisfied.

Also, the speakers have a "matrix" button on the remote that toggles between 2.1 to 4.1/5.1, which is cool to use while listening to music because it affects the audio so much.

Also, true surround in BF2 = oh my ****ing god

Just placed my order... I CAN'T WAIT. I have been without good audio for so long...

I'm deffo gonna hook these up to my Gamecube and scare myself ****less with RE4. THAT, will be awesome. I'll finally have a use for the Audigy 2 I bought lol. Ohhhh, I'm so excited!

Mal, if you play any FPSes on the PC, Definately hook it up to that first and get the surround working. Almost right after I got the true surround working in BF2 I had an Audiorgasm. These speakers really are quite phenominal and are extremely affordable.

I could even buy a second set now (or after I get paid, anyways)

... Oh do I play FPS. lol.

I'm thinking CoD2 will make me **** my pants. That game sounds awesome even with my 1 working speaker. I can't even imagine what it'll be like with 5. Hopefully they'll be here early next week.

Not 5, 6. Subwoofers are speakers too, Mal.

Whatevs... lol. I still can't wait. Question though, will I wreck the sound quality if I mod them? I probably won't, but in case I do want to...

Omega
08-16-2007, 07:43 PM
Probably not, but it depends on the mod.

I actually want to paint mine, but I won't because I don't want to open them up =o

Well, I probably won't mod them anyways, though I may make some of Luke's Cat5 speaker wire.

Anyways, +rep to you for being very knowledgeable with all this audio stuff.

Omega

The speakers have their own wires, and you'd have to open up the speaker housing and desolder (i am guessing) the wires from there.

So I take it the speakers suck huh Omega? :oP Are they really that sexy? I may have to buy a set. I'm hooked up to a stereo right now but only 2.1

2 10" subs, 2 6" speakers, 2 6" subs and uhhh 8 tweeters. Lots of boom but still only 2.1.

Wow, that's frightening... But hey, shipping weight of 42lbs...

Is it possible to hook up 2 things to one set of speakers (these)? Once I get XBMC installed, I'm going to transfer all my music to it, but then I don't have PC speakers... Maybe rig up some sort of switch? If not, I'll just have to keep my music on my PC...

Omega
08-18-2007, 05:33 PM
I'm sure with a little dicking around and some spare cabling and adapters you could do it, mal. God knows I've done so many crazy things like that it's not even funny. =/

.Maleficus.
08-21-2007, 09:20 PM
I got my speakers today, but I'm not sure if I just hooked them up wrong or I have a borked speaker. For some reason, the sound for the front right and front left comes out of one speaker; the front left. I get no sound from the front right at all. I ran the Speaker Settings thing for Creative, and all the other speakers work fine. I just only get sound out of the front left for the front right.

check all your connections, set the switch to 5.1, and if the problem persists, RMA it.

Yeah, it's ok now, I'm a stupid-ass. I had a fan in the back of my computer, and it was covering the connector a bit and it wasn't all the way in. I had to take the fan off but it didn't do much anyways. Man, these sound great though!

Oh yeah. These are 10,000x better than the old ones I had. I was just watching some NGE and it was incredible.

Edit: I'm installing FEAR now. OMG I can't wait to play .

Oh God you're not kidding.

I played for 10 minutes so far, and I think I'm going to need a massive massage that was so intense. It's a wonder what good audio will do to a game. That's what creeped me out most... I turned on EAX 2.0 and EAX HD and woah...

Yeah, even with the Rear speakers in front of me, the audio is awesome.

Basically, you'll piss off your neighbors...

I love logitech speakers. I got my Z-5500's one and a half years ago and I was not dissapointed. The greatest investment I've ever made. If the Z-5300's are anything like the Z-5500 then that is a kickass system. You just can't beat 1010W of peak power when it comes to games, music and movies. Too bad my room is tiny, and I don't get the full effect of this system. :(

The argument for "peak watts" is idiotic. You really don't need half of that power. our FAMILY ROOM has a system with 2 speakers and around 140 watts, and it's too loud. But for quality, yours probably blows it out of the water. Quality, not quantity is what you really want when talking about speaker power.

Anyway, those speakers would be sweet. Currently, i have... headphones. Yeah.If only i had a computer space, not just plopped down in the front room where everyone would be really annoyed if were to have any speakers. So, sadly, i'm stuck with headphones, no sub, and surround. Sad panda.

Too loud is preference. In my 15 years of living, I've listened to music so loud, I need to extra power to hear it :D. I'm thinking by my mid 30's I'll need hearing aids.

Ozzfest did nothing to help this however.

And TGS, you won't be disappointed. Especially with the rebate .

I've run my speakers at full volume all around and it's not nearly powerful enough.

But the neighbors disagree.

Im going to have to go with everyone else on this: I need every single one of those watts, esp. in the subwoofer. I wasn't saying the more power the better, its just that the conversation seemed to be focusing on loudness.

It does. All the way up on the speakers and my Zen (With Matrix on) Prodouced an extremely powerful, clear sound.
