Hi All

I've had the mod bug for a while and I've finally decided to act on it. I have an old Atari 2600 which is begging for a mod and was planning on getting the following into it if possible:

MSI Fuzzy 945GM2 Mini-ITX board
2GB RAM on one DIMM
2.5" SATA drive
Low-profile Sangoma S518 PCI modem
Laptop CD/DVD drive (optional)

I saw a MAKE article once where they shoehorned a VIA Epia, CD drive, hard drive and more into a 2600 but there was no PCI card used.

I was thinking if I somehow modify one of the original game cartridges to take a 2.5" inch HD and possibly drop the CD drive, I might have enough room for the S518 inside. Am I asking for trouble?

Any ideas/experience or words of wisdom anyone might have for a newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Looks ok to me. It is just a process of opening it up gutting it and seeing if you can make it all fit. Since it is just a firewall isn't 2gb of ram a bit of overkill?

Well, I was palnning on running astaro in a virtual machine, FreeNAS in a VM and maybe a small footprint server as well, all with Linux as a host. More RAM, the better.
