Re: Sponsors? How the hell!
Get a few mod's under your belt, then when you can be noticed as a good modder, start asking companies, contact them and ask them nicely if they would be willing to sponsor you. If you're a good modder who people watch then companies will be easily willing to let you shove their name in your worklog.

:think:Yeah I thought about that but I wonder if anyone has managed to actually get their 1st mod sponsored. Hmmm...

This could hapen if the person was already well known for other types of artistic work. I suppose it could also happen if the person knows the right people.
But, most people would need to build up a reputation of quality work before getting a sponsor.
Re: Sponsors? How the hell!
Or maybe if that person happened to have bought a lot of stuff from that particular shop/site. Lets face it, a big chain like PC World wouldn't be the type, more like small stores eager for more, more valued business

you'll probably soon find that the smaller the company the less likely they are to sponsor someone they don't know or who has no reputation. They want to be sure they are putting there name on quality. Just because someone spent a few grand buying product from them really doesn't help. If you don't buy it, someone else will.
The key is building yourself a reputation. There is no easy way to get free stuff.

Something's telling me we should sticky a thread with advice on gaining sponsors.

Something tells me you're right.
In regards to the topic, you most likely won't get sponsored on your first mod. Chances are good you won't get sponsored on your 2nd or 3rd either. You need to do a few REALLY good mods to get sponsored. People need to think they own, and you need to get a good fan base. When people start linking to your mod on different forums, etc, then you'll know you're getting somewhere.
