Project: ViewSonic 2x2 Panorama Display (56k Warning)
Ok, so ive noticed some people are setting up multiple computer displays. I want one too 8).. I have from a past job, 10 ViewSonic 15" flat panels standing by ready for duty... er modding.. very nice.. Since my next setup will have dual ATI cards (from Ferrari themed pc build) I will be able to hook up four monitors for a sweet desktop setup. Here's what I have so far. Check it out and give me some ideas..
Let me know what you guys thing and if you guys have any ideas. All are much appreciated!

Re: ViewSonic 2x2 Panorama Display (56k Warning)
I wonder if you could use 6 monitors with 3 pairs set up with a dual screen deaktop 2048*1536 for 1024*768) sized standards.
Re: ViewSonic 2x2 Panorama Display (56k Warning)
Lucky bastard lol, 10 monitors. I would sell the ones you don't need and get that new Alienware curved monitor lol.
Re: ViewSonic 2x2 Panorama Display (56k Warning)
What I really want to do is get the black plastic casing from around the monitor and put the lcd's as close together as possible.. Gotta find some 1/2" thick plexiglass and put some bends in it.. Im thinking about going with three monitors instead of 4 but 4 would be bomb.. I will figure out soon snuff if ill be using three or four.. I will be taking apart one of the lcd's today and ill take plenty of pics so you guys can get an idea of whats going to happen..
Till Then..

Definately black with red accents :)
Re: ViewSonic 2x2 Panorama Display (56k Warning)
Can you get see through black, that would look awesome. I like your idea of removing the frames, should look great when your done.
Re: ViewSonic 2x2 Panorama Display (56k Warning)
Ok so ive taken apart a monitor and enough talk look at the pics..
on the bottom here are four tabs that need to be pushed in to allow the front speaker cover to pop off..
Here is the speaker cover off and the speakers and front buttons exposed..
The buttons are well labeled for when I begin to make remote buttons..
5 very tight screws later and the button pcb is off..
After taking out the two screws at the bottom of the screen, the front plastic trim easily snaps off..
This is whats left. I will not be using the speakers so they stay inside the case..
This is the back. The chrome shield is the part that protects all the electronics inside..
With the cover off..
After all the electronic boards have been removed this is what im left with.. Almost naked but not quite..
This is after the heavy duty shield is removed. This gets rid of those tabs sticking out the sides saving an inch..
This is the front of the bare lcd..
As you can see its only 3/8th inch thick on the edges..
These are all the electronics that will have to go back in..
The scrap..
The main product.. Shes beautiful!
My aquarium :D

Till Next Time

Very cool! I have always enjoyed custom modified LCD logs!
Here is a really nice example from Defyant..

I thought his complete worklog was posted here but apparently he only posted its completion.
Here is a link to his construction details if it helps.
Since you happen to have quite a few LCDs at your disposal, you might be interested in this site. http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php
There is a ton of information on using an LCD to build your own custom projector. (ulterior motive-- I would love to see a log on this as well! :D)
Good luck and looking forward to your progress.
