Re: Power Switch (momentary)
Is there a particular look or style you are looking for?
Re: Power Switch (momentary)
well, I really like the Vandal resistent ones that they have at FrozenCPU, but I am looking for options. I prefer something fairly unobtrusive.
I really am not looking for a fighter pilot switch.
Any sites you know of with a selection of power switches is appreciated.
Re: Power Switch (momentary)
hey zeus here's a great online retailer that has tons of switches i just browsed the switches category but it would have taken forever to get through all of them. Check them out here

i wouldnt even try figuring out how to wire that switch up unless you want to do some major reading. I asked almost the same question in another forum and someone suggested that very same switch and told me how to hook it up and i think my brain exploded although mine was powering lights it may be easier for just a power switch.
Re: Power Switch (momentary)
Ok,
Hook up is easy Pins 1,3,4,5 of the chip gets hooked to +5Vdc
A 10nF capacitor is hooked between Pins 6,7.
A touch pad is also hook to Pin 7 (touch pads are normaly just a metal pad)
Pin 2 is the output (this could be your Mobo, Or I'd run it to a 5V relay, and hook the wires from your mobo also to the Relay that why you don't have to work about over volts)
Pin 8 goes to Ground (the Black wire)
Good Luck,
Crazybillybob
Oh, you can order the Chip from Digikey
Re: Power Switch (momentary)
There is another modding site where someone did a detailed wireing diagram for this switch.

There, complete with pictures.

If you are wanting to do something a bit stealthy for securtiy reasons.. you could do one of these magnetic switches.. You could mount it under the front cover and just pass a small magnet across the area to fire it up.. Just a thought.. The magnet would act like a key.. also good for magic tricks.. heh
