new build motherboard help needed
i have a question i have the msi p55-GD65 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-239-_-Product
it has an 8 pin connector near the cpu this is the first newer generation i have ever built .
Well the mobo has a little black bar looking thing thats sets in four of the pins to block them it slides out very easily i have a 8 pin adapter on my psu should i pull that out and plug in the 8pin,
or is there some reason to leave it in this is the only thing im waiting on to fire it up so saying in anxious is an understatement
Re: new build motherboard help needed
yes, remove the plastic cover and insert the 8 pin connector. its there for older power supplies that only had a 4pin connector.
Re: new build motherboard help needed

Re: new build motherboard help needed
I have a question i gave a way a windows 7 rc key to my brother-in- law .
My new pc is i dont have an os i thought i kept more key i had several and the one i found is probably the one he is using dose i dont wanna get in trouble for something thats free anyway does anybody have a rc key there not using if thats legal
Re: new build motherboard help needed
I'm pretty sure that they don't control the RC keys like they do normal keys. At least, a friend of mine used the same RC key for ~5 systems, and they all activated just fine. So you'd probably be fine using the same one again. You're gonna want to get an OEM key soon though; the RC will start shutting down every two hours in a few months, then completely shut off on either June or July 31th (I forget which).
Re: new build motherboard help needed
ok thanks i just need something to run for a month or so thanks man that helps a lot
Re: new build motherboard help needed
now if i could get it to recognize both sticks o ram i would be good it runs great on two gigs but two more wouldn't hurt
if i can get em to work
Re: new build motherboard help needed
Sometimes MBBs are rather particular about that...make sure that they're in slots 1 and 2, or whichever slots the manual says to put just 2 sticks in.
Re: new build motherboard help needed
ok this is weird when i check task manager on win 7 it shows physical installed 3063 so that's right because it wont recognize all 4 in widows . in memory on the graph its showing 1.09 i guess thats what it using
in system info it says installed physical memory 4.00 gigs
total physical 2.99 gigs
availible 1.88 gigs
so im guessing its working right it just not showing fourth becasue of windows correct thanks in advance all
Re: new build motherboard help needed
Make sure you're using a 64-bit OS for 4GB and above.
