Re: ....well....this sucks.
Comcast isn't available where I live, but if it ever is, I now know not to use them.
Re: ....well....this sucks.
Is comcast the only ISP in your area? I'd rather go pick up a dozen AOL disks than tether off of my G1. I had to do that for about a week and I definitely found myself outside more :P ....which can be a bad thing if you don't have $ because I wasted a lot of gas bored-driving.

Re: ....well....this sucks.
Well, I could get Verizon DSL, but there I run into another problem. All Verizon DSL plans require a 1 year contract, but I'm planning on moving in August (3 months). Breaking that contract will result in an early termination fee of 'up to $120'. I might call them tomorrow to see what can be done about that though. For now though, I'm actually doing ok tethered on my N900. ...I might feel differently after a week, but for now I'm ok. Since I happen to get full reception in my apartment, I'm actually getting (relatively) ok speeds. Enough that it's almost as fast download as the lowest tier of Verizon DSL (and the upload is faster):
Re: ....well....this sucks.
what a stupid company.... instead of banning paying customers why not just charge more money at a higher rate...
Re: ....well....this sucks.
like they do over here? LOL rogers cogeco and shaw? (all basically the same thing)
nobody has unlimited anymore.. :( i miss the good ole days
Re: ....well....this sucks.
I forgot to check with Centurylink to see if they have any caps on the internet. I just changed from my Charter 5mbps to DSL 10mbps for about the same. I was getting tired of dealing with outages that never happened in my area and my internet being down was because of my home network.
Re: ....well....this sucks.
i used to have centurylink, no limits when i had them 3 months ago, actually the best dsl ive had.
Re: ....well....this sucks.
FairPoint may be a miserable company - basically, Verizon sold us off - and our 1.5Mbit/384Kbit plan is no longer a good deal at $30, but we're afraid that if we upgrade to a larger plan, they'll manage to screw up somehow, and further, our upload speeds wouldn't increase significantly (the real problem).
It's dead reliable right now, though, and there aren't any caps, so we're stickin' with 'em and encouraging everyone else to do the same.
