That's because the new Agility 2 and Vertex 2 SSDs just came out..and they completely decimate the previous gen. :twisted:
Agility:
* Read: Up to 185 MB/s
* Write: Up to 100 MB/s
* Sustained Write: Up to 60 MB/S
Agility 2:
* Max Read: up to 285MB/s
* Max Write: up to 275MB/s
* Sustained Write: up to 250MB/s
* Random Write 4KB (Aligned): 10,000 IOPS
Vertex:
* Read: Up to 230 MB/s
* Write: Up to 135 MB/s
* Sustained Write: Up to 80 MB/s
Vertex 2:
* Max Read: up to 285MB/s
* Max Write: up to 275MB/s

That's quite the instant savings! Damn.
Too bad it's not a 2nd Generation, because I WANT that insane write speed and I think I could probably justify spending $50 more for 10GB less to have it. But... I'll probably wait until the 80GB or more is as cheap as the current 50GB is. 80GB is where I draw the line for 2010. lol
What's the difference between the Agility and Vertex?
It looks like the Agility 2 uses a cheaper SandForce controller than the Vertex 2 (1200 vs 2000 iirc?). The result is a significant drop in random IO speeds (IOPS).Quote:

Yea the Agility 2 series blows the previous out of the water. I have one on the way for testing.

yes. The more in and out per second the faster the drive.
