Project: X Marks the Spot
While I wait for all my parts to arrive for Bulldozer, I thought I would whip out a quick 2 week (or less) mod. I want to build a Treasure Chest PC for the store where I work in time for Halloween!
I saw this cool looking chest on eBay and knew it was a winner. It's actually used for Wine bottles.
I knew even from the auction photo that these would be perfect for 80mm fans
And I was right...
I want the computer parts to be separated from the "treasure" by plexi glass
Like so
Nothing says pirate like skull fan grills. Problem is that these are acrylic and doesn't exactly fit the weathered treasure look, so I painted them black
And started putting them in with Red LED fans

What do you mean? The PC IS the treasure!
Re: Project: X Marks the Spot
you need to spray the mobo gold!
i have been wanting to do a similar mod. i have a "chest that i keep looking at, but i don't really want to cut it up. i love the idea of using a wine chest like that. i think i may have to steal your idea.
Re: Project: X Marks the Spot
No! Gold plexi on the middle!
Re: Project: X Marks the Spot

Just wait to see what I have planned
----------------------------------------------------
I'm using a 300 watt Micro PSU, because it's all I have that even fits. I put this bracket in to hold it in place
Here's it with the motherboard installed too. I'm using a socket 775 Pentium D 3.8GHz and an Asus board. The chip is only a single core, but at 3.8GHz it gets extremely HOT!
The rear turned out well too

I thought all the D's were dual core? Also, I assume it's OC'ed to run at 3.8GHz?
Re: Project: X Marks the Spot
Dual core, but no, 3.8 was its stock speed. Last hurrah of Netburst and all...
