I've been busy with quite a few projects here lately and it never fails to run into a wall where a service I'm unfamiliar with slaps me in the face.
Anyone familiar with CAD design? Google sketchup will not suffice since this project will go directly to a manufacturer.
The mechanical aspect is as simple as opening and closing of a knife.

Are you looking for laser cut or CNC milled work? Or just design in general? I have access to all autodesk software. I can do some work dependent on how much time and involvement it would take. Let me know what you need. You can post it here or PM.
CNC programming and milling would be the next step.
EDIT: Still looking! I know somewhere here has beyond the skills required.

Twist my arm. I could use cash, or perhaps trade in parts for my next build (TRON: Legacy). I work primarily in Autocad, both 2D and 3D. I also have a laser cutter for some of the fabrication work. CNC eventually to come, but it's a way off.
I'm still in. I just need a better example of what you are asking me to do. I'm not totally sure I'm familiar enough with the names of knife parts to do what you want, but I can do 2D and 3D drafting work. I'm assuming the blades will be stamped and sharpened. I'm not sure how you are going to want the other parts made. Let me know.
This was the closest example I could find to what I meant by "mechanical."
Basically, I have photoshop sketches I'd like transferred to a 3d design with correct measurements.
(minus the annoying music and jumpy effects)
EDIT: The parts will be made through a company that specializes in the tasks so I can be as picky as I'd like since I'd be paying out the $$$ for the services. I wouldn't expect any of you to deal with me when it comes to producing a physical product... it's too much leg work.
Any program specifically you need it done in?
I believe most can be converted for input/cnc programming. I'm not entirely sure which is best but I'd imagine any popular program, AutoCAD, Rhyno, Alibre, Pro E, Solid Work, etc.
