Project: Epiphany - Finished after a year and a half's work
What's up guys
A few days ago i finished a mod i've been working on since the beginning of 2006. I worked very very hard, and now it's finally complete. I called the mod Epiphany.
So let me give you guys the background about this mod before i show it to you.
A few years ago i read a CustomPC magazine and saw the ORAC machine in it. It was really the most amazing mod i had ever seen. To this day, i still believe ORAC to be the most amazing mod. So i decided to do a mod of my own. This was the first real mod that i was to do, and i had absolutely no modding skills whatsoever.
I didn't, however, want to make my case exactly like ORAC. I just wanted it to look similar. I even spoke to Peter himself and he gave me all his best wishes, and wished me luck for this mod. I still need to show him. hehehe.
Anyway, here it is. Let me know what you guys think ;)

I agree... amazing!
The wire management looks a bit tricky to say the least... Is it all functional or is some of it just cosmetic?

Thanks guys :D
Every single wire you see there is functional yes, and they all serve a purpose.
The raddy was put there because there was just no space inside the case.

That's an excellent tribute to ORAC, I think Peter will like it too!

love it, the front looks awesome and for some reason the rad on the side just looks great. Though it could be a bit tidier inside :p ;)

Re: Project: Epiphany - Finished after a year and a half's work
I forgot to mention something about the sponsors. You have to take them out of your sig and can only post them at the beginning of your worklogs after cleared by the owner of the site. Check the handbook for further details.

WOW! I think that's worth 18 months of work. I wasn't sure about the wires at first, but then I looked up ORAC.. I hadn't seen it before. Kinda organized chaos. I can't say that there's anything about the mod that I don't like. The eject buttons are a GREAT idea. +rep and welcome to TBCS!

hey i got a question, what type of cable coverings are those really shiny ones, like the ones in ORAC, and where can you get them?
Thanks, TP

As said above, those are shower hoses. The other, thinner, cables are sleeved in clear Techflex and then in 6mm clear tubing.

Re: Project: Epiphany - Finished after a year and a half's work
Excellent work! Thats a very nice looking case, very pro.
You know, oddly, against what some other people are saying. I actually like how you did the rad. I think it looks pretty good just the way it is. Makes me think of a mech or something. You got the missile launchers on top, then you got the multi-rocket launcher on the side. lol I think I've played a little too many video games. :p
I was wondering why on earth you have so many momentary switches on that thing, but after I watched your videos I totally understand now. I never thought of doing it that way, what an excellent idea!

Thanks for more comments :D
I did the raddy on the side on purpose. Firstly there was no place inside the machine, and i figured it would look awesome on the side, and it did :D
Drumthumper: Just remember that shower hose is electrically conductive, and it WILL kill your hardware if it touches any, hence my motherboard covers.

Re: Project: Epiphany - Finished after a year and a half's work
Absolutely brilliant, great job on that mod...+Rep from me.
A great tribute to Orac, but hell, you got skills of your own...you could easily blow someone else away the way Orac did to you.
With your skills, there's no need to emulate other modders! But it's a hell of a mod, and don't be tricked into thinking I'm in any way dissing it. It's incredible work, and I'm very impressed.

Re: Project: Epiphany - Finished after a year and a half's work
if its conductive, then what do you use it for? becuase most stuff plugs into the mobo, and since you build a panel to protect it, what wires are you using with these covers? or do you have a trick to make them able to plug into mobo and not short
thanks, tp

I usually don't like wires all over the place but I like this one. Good job! I like how you matched the wiring to the color scheme of the computer(clear metal blue)
the front looks badass too.

Very Nice.. I as well loved Orac3, it just goes to show that just because someone has already done it, doesn't mean that you can't do it again just as good or better. Great work!

A very commendable effort, kudos to you!. However I feel the similarities to Peter's work will take a bit of the limelight away. I also agree with a few others regarding the reservoir placement. Overall, nicely done.
