My ULTIMATE car would be the Lambourghini Diablo SE30.. but i aint that rich yet :(
the car im getting is the Nissan Skyline. Its going to get tricked out similar to the one in my sig, but in my own style... and before i even start the project, il let u know 1 of my ideas... its going to incorporate a "blacklight" scenario, just like your comp. just coz what you have done looks so awesome, and i think it will look spanking in a motor :) If it isnt already when i buy it, im also gonna supe it up to atleast 500 ponies, to be able to pull quick quarters, with a mountain of ICE and mods in it :D
I just cant wait til i can get my hands on it. *Paces room counting the days and the pennies* :p

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
So,... I have good news. Bill Owens from WWW.MNPCTECH.COM is giving me replacment fan grills to replace the cheap crppy wire ones I was going to be using. They are new in design and not finished. He said the they will be done in about 2 - 3 weeks maybe sooner. He's going to be sending me like 5 of them, the 120mm versions:) You can see them here:
http://mnpctechcom.temp.powweb.com/g...to=272&cat=555
All I have to say about them is WOW, friggin WOW. Let me tell you,... I dont really go all out with fan grills, hence the crappy ones I was going to use. I'm not into the grills with the crazy designs. I like simple and sexy, to the point. Bill friggin nailed it with these grills! GAWD. I am going to use four of them under the radiator housing for the 120mm fans in there. I am also goign to use one in the back of the case. I really would like to add another fan to the case but I'm sure if thats going to happen. There is going to be one 120mm fans just for the PSU. I might add one of those grills to that fan and design around it. I think I am going to do that, Seriously. He is also sending me some U-Channel trim mold in hopes that it will work with the holes for the hoses. I was going to use the foam before but I wasn't 100% with that idea, niether were you guyz. Someone told me to try the trim mold Bill has for sale on his site here:
http://www.mnpctech.com/UChannel.html
Usually it's used for more open edges but I really need something other then a grommet to cover up the edges of my holes. I dont know how well it will work inside a holes this small. Knowing this Bill was still kind enough to send me some:) Thanks Bill! I had come up with the idea of having a sponsor or a "special thanks to" plate on the computer. It will most likely be a piece of acrylic cut to a nice rectangular shape. I will engrave any sponsors I have on it. Once done I will light it up. I think I'll do something like this:
______________________
Special Thanks to:
Bill Owens
WWW.MNPCTECH.COM
______________________
You think I should have "special thanks to" or "sponsors"? I dont know, I'll figure that out later. I cant wait to get home so I can work on the UV green insides.

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
SURPRISE!!!! It's an update!!! Kind of!!! Check it out,...
Heres what I did yesterday. I started bending the UV green inside.
The the gap in the corner that wa kind of bothering me. I'm ok with it now. You cant tell once it's diffused.
Got this the other day to cut away the bend line so the edge of the bend won't be so round. I'm not going to do that anymore. I'm going to use it for engraving now:)
All done,... but to short. As I said in my last post,... some how it shrunk. So I will flattent his out and use it for one of the other covers.
Heres what it's going to look like once done. Keep in mind this plastic isnt diffused. It will be more bright once it is.
Ok,... I'm off to the shop to start. PEACE!

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
Ok, heres my update.
VFD's UV insert. I used the my orbital sander to diffure instead of the coarse saned paper. It was so much easier. It leaves a nice finish too.
Very cool.
LED cover and insert.
My first engraving. It's pretty cool. I am really going to enjoy doing it more.
Here I'm bending the tower insert. I did it while it's lit up like that. Pretty cool beans. It took me to attempts to get it right. Well,... I got the first bend right, I mean you cant really mess hat up. Its the second bend that was off a bit. I could barely get the insert inside the tower. I flattened it out and did it again. I nailed it the second time.
Here is the tower insert almost finished. I still have to diffuse the back side of it. I tried my best to light it up so it would look kind of like the way it would if I had all the UV LEDs I haved planned for it installed.
Here is the LED cover installed to the case with some UV light. This is pretty much whats its going to look like.
Here is the VFD cover. The VFD cover is goign to have alot of UV green buttons. This is why I didnt cut out alot of designs.
So what do you think?

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
CHECK THIS OUT!!! I was suspended from WWW.BIT-TECH.NET for having a signature that was to long!!! My signature is only 201 characters!!! It's the same signature I have for all my logs! I initally was told by a member over the that he thinks my sig is to long because it got cut off and that my sponsor might get mad. So I was like what??? So I went to my profile and posted my signature again. I then get a PM from this admin guy that said that I posted my sig again even though he said it was to long. If I do it again he will probably suspend me! Then he replaced my sig with some crap liek tribaloverkill's sig was owned by whatever his name is. Having a sign to long and is a capital crime and will be punished! I sent him a pm back with the sig rule. The sig rule says that the sig has to be within a reasonbale length! There was no specific number! I told him to grow because of the stupid message he left me and that wsa it,... he suspended me. So,... I am totally done with that forum. My log over ther is dead. You see,... this is the same thing that happened over at that other site,... the one that said that I had to deem them as my home in order to post my log there. This is even worse! 201 characters! I can name a file on my pc with something longer!!! Thats crap.
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
total bullcrap, somebody needs to tell the admin to make a specific number. total bullcrap man.

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
If the rules are there and you have it within specs.. then I would say leave them handing and wondering what happened ... I would think that they would want you to post seeing the work you do is amazing.

Wow i think you should excuse gordy's comment I think hes one of the only people who would feel as he does. Your signature isnt exceedingly long. Doesnt contain pictures or anything, its not a awful sight nor is it a bandwidth chugging signature. Sorry that happened most everyone will most liekly be on your side :)

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
F'in A!! And 2nd to disregarding Gordy's post. There's more to people than just their capabilities with modding supplies and other such gear. AAAAAAAnyway...
What else are you wanting to do...like what else is on your checklist? Or are you coming up with ideas as you go? Just curious how much longer til the greatest mod ever wil be complete.. :D

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
Small update. I finished sanding the inside of the UV insert for the tower. I then got started on the reservoir. Check it out,...
Here I mapped out two more holes. One is going to be for an UV LED and the other for a dallas 1-wire temp probe.
This is what I want to accomplish for the UV LED and temp probe.
I was going to use a larger one as seen in this pic but I decided to use the samller one because it's SEXXXXXXY.
Reservoir: $20
Barb: $1
Modifying the barb making it a tap: Priceless:)
Touching the barb right after grindingit and burning the crap out of your fingers: Even more priceless:)
Yo,... after drilling my holes in the reservoir I needed to tap it so I can screw in my little barb things. I didnt have a tap that size and it was to late to go to the store. So I made my own:) I basically made two cut perpendicular to each other. I ground the grooves open a bit and that was it. I used a bit of lube and it worked like a charm! This is the small one.
This is the large one. I made this one first. I change my mind shortly after and went to the small one.
Here are some practice taps.
Heres proof that it works. It scraps as it goes around and around. The acrylic that is cut goes inside the barb. I reccomend that you turn a bit and then turn it back a bit. Keep doing that until you made it all the way through. And use some sort of lube. That is a must!
Heres the finished product. Notice the elbow. I cleaned it up so it actually looks nice:)
Let me know what you think:)

I dont care about gordy's comment really. But notice he hasn't answered yet :rolleyes:. Anyways,... I am coming up with alot of it on-the-fly. I plan general ideas and then think up detailed stuff on-the-fly. Next,... PSU:) I will be starting on that tomorrow. I will take about 30 mintues of my time to plan a general look and then think up detail while I get started.

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
Sorry for being asleep... :rolleyes:
Sorry for not wanting to hear something that is totally irrelevant to this project log thread and totally irrelevant to this forum and the 6 or 7 others you've moaned on about it at.
On that note back to the modding, have you check that new thread for leaks etc? I'd be worried about that. Looks good tho :)

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
This thread is about tribal and his mod. Cuz without tribal, there would be no Blackout..

True that:) Also,... I have posted alot fo offtopic stuff such as spongebob, and dinner with my gurl. When something goes wrong on another forum and I post my problem else where seeking opinions,... it's offtopic and moaning. Hmmm. I havent checked the threads for leaking yet. They wont leak. There are a million things I can do to keep them from leaking. Thanks for asking:)

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
Ok,... here's what I got done the other day.
My EPower Tagan 480W PSU. This thing is heavy as hell. Thats all I have to say about it, atleast right now.
Inside. Nice HUGE heatsinks:)
Looks like I have to do some desoldering to get the power connector and switch out.
I got the power connector free. Now it's time for the switch.
Quick question,... You see the two big globs at the bottom. The one on the left is touching the two little pins and the one on the right is not. Does this matter? I dont think it does but what do I know:)
Removed.
Is it me is this some sloppy soldering?
Here I am going to cut out the bottom the case inside the taped area.
Done. I cut it out because I am going to mount a bracket plate there. Surprising enough,... the case is still sturdy and this is without the sides on:)
PSU mounting plate cut to size.
This is where it's going to go. Now,... I think I might raise it up off the bottom of the case using a couple of washers. This way air can get out through there. Either that or I will drill holes or cut grooves in the plate where there is free space.
This is how I will probably have it arranged.
I have to figure out what I am generally trying to accomplish before I go any futher. I will draw some diagrams.

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
looks like they are reinforcing trace lines with solder. I would put that back together and take it back, almost looks like a refurbused PSU.

The Traces (the large dark blue areas around the pins) look fine, It just looks like they were not taking any chances and Over soldered everything. It is done sometimes on High load devices (one that may get hot enough to start making thin solder go to the plastic level (plastic is a pliable state just prior to melting))
If it was a Refub you would have a lot of cooked flux near the solder joints there is none in the pic that I could see and there is no dark spots on the board. I'd say it's fine they just went overboard soldering.

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
Couldnt send it back if I wanted too. I had it for awhile now. It runs fine. I was just noting the sloppiness I would have never settled for:)

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
Here's how I think I will mount my PSU. I like it but seems bit much. The thing is I to upgrade easily. This design will aloow that so I think I'm all for it. I still havent drawn up a plan for the other ares of the PSU because I had a busy night. I am going to do it now. Let me know what you think.
The arms dont lift. All the pieces have square edges unlike the reservoir arm which lifts. These stay flat against the bracket and only do two things,... slide around on the bracket, slide back and forth(the extension arm), and turn. It will be very strudy although it doesnt really matter because we're talking about a PSU here.
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
Small update. I didnt finish the PSU mounting plate. I finished most of it, I just didnt drill the hole to mount the mounting plate. I think I have to sand it some more, I think I lefted some spots. I was kind of rushing:) To the pics,...
This is what I WAS going to use as power rails for my PSU and all it's sleeved power wires. I was informed by another member(Starbuck3733T) that it might not be thick enough for that much juice. Thanks for looking out after my PSU starbuck :wink:. I am going to use a thicker copper pipe. I'm going to most likely smash it and then fold it,... then smash it some more! The idea is to achieve a nice thick strip. More on that when I get to it. Moving on,...
Heres the plate mapped out and ready for the drill. Once I drill holes for the scroll saw blades,... It will be time to use,... the scroll saw! I'm so smart. LOL.
Heres the first track thing cut out.
Heres all of them cut out and ready for filing:(
Done! Wow,... that was some fast filing! Whoa. I saned too! I'm fast:D It's looks just like the drawing:D Well,... except the middle track is shorter. I decided to make is shorter because it doesnt need ot be so long. Plus when its long like that it weakens the plate alot! I could fold it in half if I kept that track long.
This is where its going to go. I think I will raise it up off the case with wsahers though as I said before. Looks sweet. Can't wait to make the arms tomorrow:)

It did, LOL. My one arm is RIPPED!!! I tried alternating but the left arm is challenged when it comes to thing like throwing balls, writing, filling custom computer parts, etc. You know:) I broke out the dremel at one point to grind away the majority of what I thought to be a tiny amount of slack. It was it just took forever to file it away with thos tiny arse files!!! They coulsnt have made them a bit thicker and wider and longer :mad:!

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
I am going to bed. I am mad tired. The only thing I got done today was the making of a bus bar. I used a larger diameter copper pipe because the walls are thicker.I was going to use this small diameter pipe buts its to thin.
Here are the two bus bars side by side. The larger bus bar just like the small one was a pipe. I flattened them out. The larger pipe I had to fold one flattened because it was to wide. Now that I folded it after flattening it,... it's even thicker.
See the difference.

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
I must have missed something.
What are these for?
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
You didnt miss anything. I am just experimenting with these. I will bw working with them one the PSU is mounted and covered. They are bus bars. Ther will be like three of them. One for 12v, 5v, and ground. I will take all of the 12v wires off the PSU and solder them to one of the bars. The same goes for the 5v and ground wires. I will then solder all my peripheral wires to the bars. You know,... the the wires with the molexs that power you say dvd drives. Well I am making my own custom PSU panel using the chrome shower hose. The panel will have holes in which the hose will pass through. I will fasten the hose so it cant be pull back out. The wires will pass through the hoses and get soldered to the right bus bars. It makes everything look nice neat. This will be done later though.

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
So,... I got my package from Bill Owen from WWW.MNPCTECH.COM and I opened after noticing that the bag weighed more then I thought it would. He was kind enough to send me the U-Channel Trim Molding, several large and small Cable Clamps, and even some of his larger Reinforced Cutting Discs. He has to be one of the coolest guyz I know. Seriously. Thank you BILL!!! Now,... about these cutting discs:) These things are huge compared to the ones I had!!! They look like frisbe's!!! LOL. I am going to have to watch myself with these things. If I wasn't at work right now I would be home cutting something with these things, LOL. Also,... the trim molding, it very nice! For some reason I didnt picture it to look like this. I mean even though I saw it in a picture on his site it's hard to really grasp what it looks liek until you ave it in your own two hands. I thought for some reason it would be bulky, a true eye sore. But's its actually thin and sleek. I like it! I haev to see if it will fit in my little holes. if I doesnt I will trim some of the width and then try again. I hope it fits. It's nice:( We'll see in the morning. The cable clamps,... I am so going to use these to organize my cables behind the computer. I even have his business card!!! I feel so special:) Thanks again bill!

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout" Updated--> 06/24/05
Wow, Tribal. That's a very clever idea. It took me a second to see where you were going with these, but now I can't wait to see how you pull it off.
You're a big inspiration to me, you've shown me that a lot of this stuff is very possible, given the right imagination and determination. I'm closing on a house with a great big garage very soon, and will have at least six weeks of remodeling to do before we can move in (the place is trashed, but cheap). Once we're established, I'm going to be doing a few mods myself, and to be honest, I don't think I ever would have considered it were it not for you, Paul, Defyant and a couple others.
Keep up the great work, and keep updating!
