Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
The remote desktop thing is easily explained (if you're interested) - Windows uses a virtual video device driver for remote desktop connections and disables the current video adapter for the duration of the RDP session - technically, for the length of your RDP session, there IS no Folding capable GPU installed (software wise) in your system.
I wish I knew so specifically what the problem was here tho lol but that's usually the way of things - when someone else has a problem, I can solve it - but when I have one myself, it'll be a PITA.
Having said that, that's probably a psychological thing though - when I come across a minor fixable issue on one of my systems, I just fix it and dont think about it - its the ones that are a pain which stick in my mind.
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
pcclan - you appear to have a duplicate folding account lol - you have a new entry in our results under pccla_n
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
damn it..... i think i fixed it
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
lol Pc, you know just because you've got duplicate folding accounts doesn't give you more of a chance at winning the prize :)

... i kinda screwed up when i was entering my name in to my brothers computer which is running a gtx 570 for me and getting 14,000 ppd

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
Don't be too worried - there have only been 2 workunits for a total of 2696 points so if you got it set up right now, you haven't lost much :)

honestly, I am getting about 2500 ppd (according to my gpu tracker) on my 4870 1gb and about 1600 ppd (again, according to my tracker on my system) on my intel c2d t6500 laptop, haha. my x2 4200+ was getting around 500-750 ppd. yeah... my laptop is doing just fine considering what I am folding with. haha
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
OK so after a couple days fighting with this I KINDA got it working again. My 4870 is back and behaving normally, knocking out between 1200 and 2200ppd - the GTS450 however isn't being as good - it flatly refuses to run GPU3 WUs and is currently producing in GPU2 mode at a lower rate than the ATI (around 1100ppd) and the CPU is chugging along in SMP mode but it seems to be going VERY slowly about it but that may be down to me doing a stack of stuff on the PC at the moment. I guess tonights overnights will make a little more sense....
Scrap that - still having more probs lol - the CPU SMP folding has now died a death so I'm getting a TOTAL of about 3500ppd from both Video cards running 24/7. At this point I'm thinking about putting the GTS250 into my sons PC when I do a case review this week and just running that for a bit - at least I SHOULD be able to get back to the 8k ppd from that card....

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
Anyone folding on their PS3? I was just reading about it and it seems like an easy way to get some WUs done.

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
I had done folding on my ps3 for a little bit one night. But it only seemed like it was going to pull ~600-900ppd so I haven't done it since. Didn't seem like it was good ppd/watt at least compared to how many points my rig was pulling down.
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
my GPU fails if it's folding and I watch a youtube vid or something. I just stop the gpu, watch the vid and restart lol

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
I saw a build on some site when i was looking for something.. (haha thats so ambugious) but he said he can produce 175k PPD with Quad SLI Copper something... 580's?

So, anyone have any x16 cards collecting dust?
My brother's HP is running onboard graphics, and I think it also would help me crunch folding numbers.

EGVApes is a user, not a team. S/he is racking up nearly as many PPD as the rest of those 889 members combined.

I'm wondering if EVGApes might actually be EVGA. Kinda like some universities fold on all their computer lab machines, maybe EVGA folds on all their workstations.

Could be. The team name is Folding@EVGA. Maybe one of the users is the company and a bunch of random people saw something on their website and joined them?

Sounds reasonable to me.

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
BAH! Well I'm beat - I put the GTS 250 into my sons pc, a dual core Athlon 5000+ with 4GB Ram and 7 Ultimate 32bit - this machine is pre-sp1 and pre-IE9 (two changes I made to my PC just before all the problems started) and it is having the same problems - using the GPU Tracker, fails to start the Core, and the standalone GPU3 software just keeps running test proteins.
*bangs head on desk*

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
You try just using the GPU2 client? From what I read people seem to be recommending GPU2 for Geforce 8. 9. 200 series, GPU3 for Geforce 400 / 500 series.
GPU Tracker chose GPU2 for both my GTX280 and 8800GTS fwiw.
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
It works with gpu2 but something must have changed recently. The card was doing 8k ppd on gpu3. 2 and it barely gets 2k ppd

That is odd. I tried all of my cards (260's and 250's) on both GPU2 and GPU3 and didn't get any noticeably different ppd. Only difference was that the GPU3 client used more CPU cycles. :P

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
So I can't get the GPU tracker to work for anything. I can't download the 3 clients at once. Only 2 at a time ever start, never the 3rd. Any advice?
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
aaaaaaaand we got another one not paying attention when putting in details (just like I did lol)
msmrx57 and msmrx577 are both listed in our team - you won't get two lots of competition entries lol....

Actually it was msmrx557 and that was when I was first getting things set up. The numbers haven't changed in a while. :whistler:

Change settings until it works!
So 1 cpu/smp and 2 gpu clients is what you're trying to run? Which ones are running and which isn't? What cards are you running? Are they in sli/xfire?

I can't even download the clients dude... All 3 have to download or it fails.

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
i'll probably be offline for 2 days or so... x88x, you'll probably catch me. lol
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
I'm offline right now, figuring out where my bad partitions are on my laptop's hard drive.
Currently, they seem to be between GBs 2-5.
Not much, but still an annoyance grrrrr........
Hey, I still have plenty of space on my lappy!
However, I've had bad luck with Linux f@h; I did 2 WUs that were NEVER attached to my name!
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
Okay guys, we finally have a competitor. AUfolding will catch up with us in 9.6 months.
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
I think it'll be a LOT sooner than that - our "average" is still climbing but our actual output has levelled off - I imagine in a day or so they'll be a lot closer than 9 months away. Course, that assumes we don't pick up any new folders along the way or get some of our high producers back up and running....
As for catching others - look out Modders-inc heh - this is what they see when they look at their team summary....
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
I looked up that team on the F@H site, and...there's only one member...
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/...teamnum=204949
Looking at the stats for the 'team', I'm thinking this is another case of a company or university running on all their systems.

Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
bad news on the high producer front... my stepdad has expressly forbid me from folding while im here... and i cant afford the power bill when i move to my apartment. im afraid that you're losing about 50k PPD from me... gl guys!
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
Ouch! Yeah, I noticed my power bill went up about $50 for the last month that I've been folding... :hurt: Oh well, as hobbies go, it's not that expensive. :P
-
Re: Official TBCS Folding Team
the campus was footing the bill before. lol
If i could get my friends running their rigs too though... that would be epic
2x i7 @ 4.0
1x i7 @4.2 (6core)
1 p2x4 @ 4.0
1x 560
2x 570
1x 580
