You guys should have seen my electric meter when we fired that sucker up... It was spinning like a propeller! :eek:

Next - Whoever invented the SATA connector should be shot... repeatedly. They are 90 degrees out from the plane the drives are on and there is nothing to hold them in place. When you run 5 at one time like we did they keep pulling out for no appearent reason and plugging them back in is a bitch! :mvad:

The good news is we can see light at the end of tunnel. (I think it might be the 4:15! :eek:) Only 2 or 3 more good work sessions and we will be ready to fire this puppy up! I can't wait!:yellow_green:

Your STAT connectors don't have clips?

They have the clips, but the SATA ports do not :(

Sure a lot of lights in there, but it's still tasteful somehow... Most mods can't pull that off, but you guys have done it. Kudos to you.

We don't plan to run all the lights all the time. You guys need to see the Lightbus make the lights dance.:banana: It also makes all the lights totally adjustable by bank.
Banks = UV, green, blue and white.
The boy is trying to figure out how to transfer a movie of the lights from our video camera to this thread. If any one has it down pat give the boy a shout...

The biggest problem we have right now is hiding the wiring. Who knew that in this great big case that space to hide the wiring would be so tight?:ovoh: Hiding the wiring is like trying to herd cats. the wires don't want to stay, the connectors keep coming loose and my personal favorite, after geting all the wires hidden, the connectors connected and everything ty wrapped neatly, the damn case covers won't fit over them so you have to start over! :banghead:

I route cables as I go, the installation process takes longer (a good few hours, more with water cooling) but it looks much neater in the end. You should have waited until you had everything, did a test fit, modded the case a bit for optimal routing then sent it off for painting. Oh well, too late now. A downside of using UV reactive sleeving is it just makes everything stand out way too much and makes it look messier than it really is.

The problem with test fitting when you are trying to build a cutting edge mod is that it won't be cutting edge when you are finished. We had that problem with the Video card and the CPU. We bought the EK cooler for the video card when we started this mod back in Nov of 2007. That kind of locked us into a 8800GTX. If I would have / could have waited 3 more weeks I could have got the next generation quad CPU. Buying early is the kiss of death for a cutting edge mod! :dead:

Another downside to sleeving is that sleeved wires / cables take up more room and are less flexible. If we were doing it all over we would wait until we ran each cable and the only sleeve the visible parts. :no:
