Re: Project: Toxic Tower
Sure, if I do get over there I'll take a look. I still haven't decided if I'm going to be picking up a monitor on Friday or not.. I checked online, and a small flat-rate box can go to Sweden for ~13USD, so as long as it's a decent amount of stuff, it'll still be cheaper (since those acrylic ones normally retail for what, 6-8USD?).

Re: Project: Toxic Tower
Sounds great, and FYI the poke-protector metallic grills only cost about 3 bucks here ^^

Re: Project: Toxic Tower
Oh, yeah, the basic metal grills are nice and cheap, I was referring to the laser-cut acrylic ones.

Re: Project: Toxic Tower
Fair enough ^^
OK, so here's a shopping list:
5x 120mm radiation fan grills
a 10-pack, or 3 4-packs or whatever to keep it close but above 10, just go for whatever you find, of regular black thumb screws.
If you do go there, thanks in advance.

Re: Project: Toxic Tower
OK I picked up all my plastic today and the aluminum strips I'll use to, hopefully, keep it together are done as well, here's a few pics for you:
The strips for the short side, they're really glossy!
And for the long side:
And finally all my plastic for the case (the green is only a film to protect if from damage):

Re: Project: Toxic Tower
Started to cut the holes for the fans today.
Here's what I'm using to actually cut the holes:
Had to lower the RPM a bit, unfortunately the drill has one of those old gear systems so it took 15 minutes or so:
Here's some test cutting on a sheet of plywood:
It produced a very nice, smooth, round hole:
Might update again later today with some holes in my precious acrylic 8)

Re: Project: Toxic Tower
Looks good. I've never used one of those adjustable hole bits before. Looks like it's working pretty well for you.

Re: Project: Toxic Tower
The drill bit works surprisingly well.
Here's another update with all of the fan holes cut out!
First measuring out where the holes should be:
The first incision:
Turned out pretty good:
The rest of the holes
..and now: Frisbee time!
Will probably cut out the hole for the PSU and such tomorrow ;)
