According to Anand at Anandtech, in the first series, the Agility was the Vertex (same controller) with either 50nm Intel flash, or 34nm Toshiba flash (the toshiba was faster than the Intel flash). The vertex used Samsung flash which was faster than then the Intel flash, but not always faster than the Toshiba flash.
For the second generation, IIRC the difference between the Agility and Vertex is the firmware on the sandforce controller (there are some limited edition Vertex's with the SF-1500 rather than the SF-1200, but the difference is not that great). The Agility has the stock sandforce SF-1200 firmware, the Vertex has an OCZ exclusive firmware.
On the Vertex2 and Agility 2 there is about a 40k IOPS difference too with the vertex being faster. I got my 50Gb Agility 2 in yesterday so I will have performance numbers along with a review in a few days.
Thanks, mtekk. I couldn't find a straight answer on that anywhere, just the massive IOPS difference that CJ mentioned. That's gotta be one heck of a firmware customization to give that kind of performance boost. It makes me wonder why they have the Agility at all now, unless to pick up on first-gen Agility customers.
Oooh! Yay! :D
MSRP between the 2 is only about $30 too.
