if it wasn't a challenge it wouldn't be fun
I have to disagree with that. I still enjoy soldering leds and resistors and even putting a cable tie on my cables. the real fun is when you come up with the ideas, making them is just half of the fun:) it doesnt have to be a challenge to be enjoyable :D
Re: in board movie MOD?!?!?
Not sure I understand what a PS2 drive has to do with it. The PS1 screen is a small LCD monitor that you interface with a video card either via s video or vga. if you're asking could you hook a stand alone player to it. Sure, if the player drive supports either of those video out options. Or am I misunderstanding what it is that you want to do?
Re: in board movie MOD?!?!?
He doesent have to program anything to get a movie to replay over again on a secondary output though. It can be as simple as your LCD being a secondary monitor and (after you have edited the movie(s) to the clips you want) playing it in the secondary window in WMP with repeat on. As for an LCD screen...a ps1 screen is fine...how big do you want it? How much are you willing to spend?
Re: in board movie MOD?!?!?
He wants it to start playing when the computer comes right on. A program that runs automatically when the machine is turned on that ques for the movie to start playing wouldn't be hard to program. Actually to have to start up WMP each time you turn your computer on would be pretty annoying. I'm talking about a program that would run in the back ground at atart up and tell a program like WMP to start playing.
Re: in board movie MOD?!?!?
Why program anything, just put an autorun tag in your startup directrory, 123 done.

That didn't seam to be a concern of his, but for referance why do you think the screen with burn out quickly, and how long is quickly?
Re: in board movie MOD?!?!?
Rachel...what your talking about would require a lot of code. It would have to decode the video file and play it to a desired screen. Its just not worth it when you can use something already made to play video.
Re: in board movie MOD?!?!?
well the PS1 monitor seems like a good idea...I am sorry if this is to complicated...if I in over my head just tell me, and help me dumb it down a bit so it can be feesable... even though I think it would be neat... and the question about the PS1 monitor to a pS 2, I could always just mount the PS2 in the comp and set it to teh monitor and just use it like a mini tv and dvd hook up on my comp... though it would just be cool to have the whole Lord of the Ring theme and just have the movie always running, just thought it was an idea,
BTW thanks to everyone for their ideas and help, even if you think I am stupid and crazy
Re: in board movie MOD?!?!?
So your talking about the PS1 Monitor play LOTR on repeat plus you'll have a working monitor CRT or LCD? If your doing that you'll need two graphics cards or one that has two different video outputs. I asked my teacher and that is what he said.
Re: in board movie MOD?!?!?
Some LCD kits come with video controllers that plug into serial or USB port. Still, you will need to figure out the playback. Remember that this mod will actively suck your computer's resources. Have you considered a mini-pc inside your computer to hook up your LCD? That way, you wouldn't be eating up your main machine's resurces.
