Coming along nicely!
Love your unique style keep it going
Getting there! Just got to finish the heads, fan positions, and some other minor things then its time to tape and paint.
Going up:
What the head will look like when on (this is the upper jaw, not the lower)
One of the side heads
Inside of the neck, kind of Minecraft-y
Sanding the acyllic cubes down to make teeth for the heads on the side
I feel decent about the teeth but would like a better finish but I'm out of ideas on how to make them better.
Wow, it's huge! I definitely didn't have a sense of the full scale of it until this update! While I've never had to polish the edges of any acrylic myself, flame polishing or NOVUS polishing kits would be something to look into.
I tried a a flat sanding power tool I have instead of the dremel tool and it did a lot better. I'm not looking for a polished look, just a uniform shape among all of them. Thanks for the tips though, MainMan.
Big pic update! :D
Heres the lower jaw with LEDs wired throughout
Lower jaw and upper head combined and put on the body. Can see the LEDs hanging out and about
Time to get some dentures in
Little side head got his eyes going too :D
This is the small board that houses all the LEDs hidden inside the head by a small latch/door system
Now just finishing up the inward swinging window/fans/component placements! Then to the dreaded painting/taping :(
Good lord that's HUGE!! Looks awesome so far!
Got the window and just about the rest of it done:
Put some "tails" on it
On the dreaded painting stage. Oh man do I hate painting. And its taking about 5 coats of paint to cover it well, so it's becoming monotonous :(
I do not envy you in the slightest right now, good luck with the painting.
hit polycarbonate with fire (like from a lighter) to clear out the haze or translucency.
=)
[edit] experiment first though, just to be sure.. but thats how they always cleared the edges of the poly plates at the window factory =)
