Well... with my external... you just put in the PCI bracket and then connect the sata to the motherboard and then you plug in your external to the bracket. Its basically an extension cord with a built in PCI bracket.

Oh cool. So you just have normal sata drive externally ok nice.
I already have an eSATA connector on my I/O panel. I'm looking for some sort of PCI bracket that has the eSATA power connector on it.
Thanx,
Indybird
Indybird,
Can you post a pic of your eSATA power cable connector so I can see what it looks like? I'll bet there is an elegant solution here.
Here is a schematic of the eSATA power connector.
It would be really easy to hook up via molex, but I don't know of anywhere I could get that kind of connector.
Any Ideas?
Thanx,
Indybird
Oh hell yeah, that would be very easy. It's just an S-video connector. So that power connector is on the back of your drive and you need a similar connector for your PCI slot yes? You could easily buy both a cable and female fitting, drill a hole in an unused slot or anywhere really, then correctly wire it to a molex and you're in business. As a matter of fact, I actually have one already built. Let me go see if it's still in my box-o-****e.
This is what you need isn't it?
i think he made it,
am i wrong ?
To be honest with you I have no idea. It has been in my box-o-****e for years and I always kept it because it looked like it may be useful some day. Damn, I'm like nostradamus of something... HeHe. PM me your address and I'll send it to you.
