Re: So how many Motorcyclists or Scooterists are on this board?
Is that a CX500 or 650?
I'll guess 500. I've always had a soft spot for those things.
My current bikes are:
'04 Yamaha R1
'96 Vespa PX200
'91 Yamaha TDM850
'84 Suzuki GS1100GK and another for parts.
oh, and a Pocket Bike I plan to put a computer in!

The clue's in the filename. ;) And IIRC, the 650 was a monoshock.

I ride a 1995 HD sportster. Not a cruiser setup, more like a cafe racer with drag bars, and I moved the pegs back for a more aggressive riding stance. I have done some modifications to the engine and can pretty much keep up with all my sport bike riding friends, except in the corners (due to the width and lower riding height). To this day they still joke that I made a suzuki look like a harley. First time I showed up on my sportster a couple of the guys laughed at me. That quickly changed as I smoked their ass on our first ride. The sound of their laughter was drowned out by the low rumble of my bike flying past their rice burning whiners...
And yes Bucko, the water cooled Vrod engine in a Buell would have me drooling too, although for the weight, the engine that was in the VR1000 would be better. Here's what they do to Harley tech; The Buell lightning has the same 1200cc air cooled vtwin engine as my sportster. Stock my bike came with about 65hp (now around 90), however, the stock lightning engine is pumping out 102hp and I know a couple of people that have that up to 145hp! (but I only give the engine 40k miles at best)

I was t-boned in 2005 by a driver who didn't see me and I was back on the bike before I was off crutches.. :smoker:
I guess I wouldn't mind getting on one. I would just have to get over than initial fear. If I were going to get a bike, it would probably be a new school chopper. Stretched and raked as far as possible, with a fat 300 on the back. Just seems to me to be more stable. Then again, as a bike rider I don't know for sure. That's just what appeals to me more than a Harley or a crotch rocket.
