You could try using a wireless door chime as a wireless switch. I have them here at home for about AU$10, so they're pretty cheap.
And here's a tutorial about using it in an Xbox, although it could easily be done in a PC. Just use a molex for your power and use the tutorial as a guide and you're set.

Thanx, I might give this a go. This would be a cheap alternative and I could easily upgrade to another system later without throwing away a lot of money. Humm.... Ill give it a try and if it doesn't work, ill trash it.

The only major benefit I see here is its RF, so it doesn't need to be line of site like the IR remotes are.
