Re: Project: Tribal Fusion
You sure you lost access to the partition or possible just lost access to it? Windows is not great at recognizing existing partitions.
I know if you install windows on a computer with different partitions containing other OSs (like Linux) it overwrites the bootloader and it won't "see" any other partitions on the HD or let you boot anything but windows unless you find a way to install another bootloader.
Not sure if that is you issue, I assume your partitions used Windows based filesystems. There should be a way to gain access to them. You might try booting from a live linux CD or something that would recgnize the different partitions. I really don't know what to do but don't give up yet.
Re: Project: Tribal Fusion
Yeah I don't think you actually lost the information either. The same thing happened to my Maxtor 320gb harddrive too. It's a software glitch that will only recognize 131gb with the default settings in windows. I forgot the steps you have to do but it's only a few clicks of the mouse and you should be good to go. When I get off work today I'll try and do a little research with my home computer to find out exactly what you need to do.
Re: Project: Tribal Fusion
I got off work early and I checked my computer. Try right clicking on My Computer then left on Manage then Disk Management. You should have a list of all your drives. Your C drive will only have 128-137gbs showing on it. You should also have another little window to the right of the C drive window with something like unallocated disk space. This should be the missing part of your hard drive probably around 170gbs. Right click on that one and it should give you some options. I'm not sure what step you should take next though. I know I clicked on Format and a window opened up then put then I checked on the Perform a quick format box and click OK but I didn't have any information stored on that portion of the hard drive yet so I'm not sure if that's erase the files you have stored on there.
EDIT: You might want to google for other T/S steps before you go and try doing a quick format. I don't want to be responsible for you losing all of your files.

This is a great solution. But if your nervous around linux, even if it is graphical, I would try something else.
Whatever you do, take your time and don't get frustrated. The data is still there. Until you get flustered and format something you shouldn't.
I am a little confused. Did you buy a new harddrive? The best is to load windows on the new harddrive(master). Get it up and running then just plug your old harddrive as a slave and you should be able to transfer everything important, copy and paste style.
Re: Project: Tribal Fusion
I think he used a hard drive from another computer and reformated the boot partition with a clean install of windows for the new machine.
Re: Project: Tribal Fusion
Weee, righty, this is what I plan on doing with the side panel:
Woot woot, thanks to J-m@n over at google warehouse and http://www.j-man.nl for the superb model, slightly big but nothing to complain about ;)
Anywho, ive removed the holes and 3rd floppy drive as i want to completely remodel the bottem half of the front, dont like the fan holes with the badge in the middle on the pc-7 SE so will model some nice design or grill for that.
For the inside im planning on a fully green LED theme, need to replace the led's in the PSU and need to somehow cover the huge glow from the ballistix tracer ram i have (should have gone for the one without led's now i have the theme... oh well) :D
PS: I had a bit of a distaster with my IDEQ lcd mod... so am kinda between a mod and a hard place on wich to start on :P
Re: Project: Tribal Fusion
I take it your got your hard drive working right.
Re: Project: Tribal Fusion
kinda, managed to get about 100gb of data back, no idea what was wrong with the rest of the disk but tried everything. Got most of the important stuff back so decided to format the rest, mainly old apps and installs etc... but its all up and running now so will start on some simple cable management and general housekeeping...
any tips for cable management from anyone btw?
