I want moar!!!!
holy cow how did I miss this? great mod idea! love C&C! good work on the fiberglass, really need to try that stuff out! +rep
Very nice work. I am very impressed with how this is turning out.
I am curious about that body kit front bumper in the background of some of your pics. I'm assuming it's fiberglass. I just want to know what it is for, looks like a Honda S2000 to me.
Wow is all i can say, good job man.
Can't wait to se this one finished, and the flamethrower is just crazy...me like alot ;)
Update 2 - Devil's Tongue Flame Tank - 15 april 2008
I am so sorry it took this long, I had some problems with my internet provider which had to be resolved first (they took out my adsl for about 3 months).
I also was pretty occupied with my faforite sport:
But now I am back with another update.
I first want to thank for putting my mod in the modcast! thank you!
Now to the point, I promised a update on the tank, and here it is!
I did a lot of work on the shredder of the tank, I has a lot of custom component which had to be milled out of aluminium.
First I wanted to position the the spikes with the right spacing, so I marked it.
Now I bent a strip of aluminium around the tube so I have the correct angle of the spikes.
And with a permanent marker I marked the positions where the pins whould be drilled.
I then cut a strip of aluminium where the tubes could be mounted on.
I mounted the strip on the table so I could make it round.
the milling in progress.
Now you can see the difference between the strips.
This is how it looks, next to the tube.
And here with both strips rounded.
the strips need to hold a bearing, so i milled those holes too.
This foto shows the bearing mounted in the aluminium strip.
And here with both bearings mounted in the strips.
I also have a thicker strip of aluminium which eventually will be mounted to the tank and where the small strips can be attached to.
This thicker strip will house 2 bearings instead of one because the wheel driving system will be mounted in it.
You see the bearings mounted in this picture.
Now I am making a space for the smaller strip where it can be mounted on to.
Here the small strips are mounted on the larger one.
You can see the drive system mounted.
and once again with a example shaft.
I needed some special large gears so the tubes would rotate against each other.
milling, the block of aluminium with a special module.
as you can see it starts to look like a real gear.
I made two slices, one for each tube.
It will be mounted like this, the size is chosen just right for enough space to accomodate the spikes.
The same picture zoomed out.
The wheel needs a centerin hub where onto the rest could be mounted.
And centering a hole in the gear.
Here the hub and the gear attached to each other.
Here is a shot of both tubes mounted to each other.
And here I have it positioned to its future position.
The holes for the spikes need to be threaded so the spikes can be mounted firmly.
I make the spikes on my lathe, they are really sharp
the first one... (of 500) :)
You can see it take shape here...
and here with about a half tube finished, to indicate its destructiveness, when I lay this on my hand, I feel the spikes piercing my skin :)
I hope you enjoyed my new update and I hope to make a new one soon.
Finally an update! Things are looking good man keep up the good work & updates :D +rep i really like the spikes
Wow, that spikes look really frightening! Have fun with the upcoming 250 ones :D
Great work on those shafts and gears and stuff. I wish I had access to those milling machines or even a lathe...
Looking forward to the next update!
All I can say is HOLY F'N SH$T MAN!!! +rep for sure.
*note to self....dont piss off cyclonite at a LAN ...HE WILL KILL YOU WITH A TANK*
Wow that is looking sweet, nice craftmanship there.
+Rep to you man :)
WOW! Looks awesome, and dangerous! +rep
This has to be one of the most awesome mods I've ever seen:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:
The work on the rollers and gears is top notch.Looking forward to the next update (which i hope is soon) and maybe a video of them spikes spinning;).
+Rep to the Dude.
yours wecrookie:eek:
Man that's crazy and insane!!!
Would absolutely rule on Battle Bots. lol Looking forward to your next update!
Very good looking. Makes me wish I had a milling machine :(
Hello there, I have built a new toy for in the Temple Of NOD.
A smoke generator, I want to shoot this smoke out of the beak of the casemod.
This apparatus works on 12 volts and is able to produce this amount of smoke continuously!.
I have just a few small things to change on the smoke generator and that is making 2 plugs to compress the liquid, this makes the smoke a lot better.
Hope you enjoy it :D
How much was it? and where did you get it? :D
Man this is awesome. Fantastic work.
Hello People,
My last post is a long time ago now,
You might think I've stopped with my case-mod.
This I quite true for the moment, As I had a fire in my workshop and part of the case-mod has been burnt down :(
But shed no tears, I have been reconstructing my workshop and enhancing it.
After I am done with this project I will again focus to the C&C tiberian sun casemod.
For the people who want to see what happened, I dedicated a page to it on my site.
Anyway on picture 2 you can clearly see the obelisk of licht has been burnt allmost completely.
I'll keep you all updated when I am restarting this project...
C you all untill next time
Eeh, that sucks. I wish you the best of luck repairing your shop and all.
That is bad news. Glad to hear you are ok though and you are pursuing the mod.
well the bad news is obvious... the good news is that ur workshop is so awsome... thats great man... nice work
Sorry about the Fire... But Can I move into your Shop??? (wipes drool from lips, and chin). It looks to be back better then ever now !!!
Time to get Modding :)
cant wait to see this thing, it's redonkulous
My chin is still on the floor from looking at your new lab
I love the flame tank, possibly my favorite mod ever (I did used to watch robot wars a lot when I was younger :D)
I love the C&C series, although I think that Generals is the best one. I like how these mods are turning out.
Shame to hear about your lab burning down, but my GOD!! There is a silver lining to every cloud (of smoke). That lab looks like heaven with those lights on :D
Just caught up on everthing tonight. The mod looked great. Sorry to hear about your shop, glad noone got hurt and that you were able to rebuild it better than before *insert bionic man reference*.
Definately subscribing to this one, can't wait for the next update.
(PS. Can I live in your shop too.)
got enought room for the whole of tbcs?
yea it looks like heaven.
bruce almighty sence any1?? in the white room
:) great minds think alike...
but fools never differ... :(
Your new shop looks great. Glad to see that the childslaves sign survived hehe.
Finally after a VERY long time, I am again here to post some progress to the project.
After the fire in my workshop I made up a list of projects and in which order I wanted to finish them.We made this choice because we wanted to compete with the flame tank in a match of autonomous robots>> fieldrobot...
- The Flame Tank , including all its electronics, mechanics and software. to make it even harder we made up some nice new killer features to add to it.
- The temple of nod was severely damaged by the fire but fortunately the scale of the temple was not burnt (only smoke damage)
But the airbrush needs to be redone.
further the baseplate on which the scale rests has been severely burnt, the pc is also a goner.
This restoration has been put on the long run unfortunately.
The Idea of this match is to let a robot navigate by itself through a cornfield while spraying weeds on its way through the field.
The weeds have to be detected by object recognition.
User interference results in penalties.
Our other objectives still stand (the tank should be controllable by the Temple of NOD), This will be done through Bluetooth.
Anyway lets get started....
As you can see the components have some nasty smoke damage, I cleaned all before reattaching the components(paint doesn't stick to smoke :D)
In my last post you probably would have noticed the gears I created, I wasn't satisfied by their performance so I removed those and bought a new set of motors to be integrated INTO the wheels themselves.
These are the new type of motors I use, the have planetary gearboxes, so the axle is in the center.
You probably notice the black piece of plastic, this is an insulator to isolate the wheels from the arms(I use an electric axle because the motor itself rotates in the wheel)
This is the creation of the isolator where the motor get attached to.
As you can see it slides in like this.
The motors then get attached to the arms like you can see.
When all is attached it kinda looks like this :D, WAY better then the previous configuration with the outside gears.
I created a movie, proving it works :D
Next part was the creation of the arms which would be holding the flame throwers.
I cut some pieces of 10 mm thick aluminum for this.
And after some milling and grinding... this is the result.
with an servo already attached.
This servo will be used to control the arm.
Next up was the flame thrower...
As you could have seen in previous posts I designed my own flame thrower.
I have taken this concept further as I wanted to ignite the liquid material on the fly when it rushes out.
So I made some simple electronics with an ancient 555 chip and hooked up a sparc coil.
This resulted with amazingly good results.
The pulse will be continuously at around 15KHZ.
This generates a sparc of nearly 6 mm!!!
Next up was the flamethrower itself.
The major problem with the ignition is, it needs a good insulator.
First I made a raw design and then tested with various insulators
This is with the insulator attached.
This is the flamethrower.
Here you can see the various parts in the flame thrower
Next up was to fit the flame thrower in the arm itself.
You can see it take shape slowly.
Sadly I don't have any pictures of me welding the top of the tank with an aluminum plate (with my new toy an AC/DC TIG welder :D:bunny:)
But I do have some of the fabrication of the top cap , which is made out of 1mm Stainless steel sheet metal.
I need to practice a lot, but this is a good learning project
You can see the nice curve...
and now cut down to size
Now for some nice pictures :D
more teeth
The motor and gearbox
AND NOW THE MOMENT SUPREME:
the flame thrower arms
close up
And one again the graphics counterpart:bunny:
for The people who like youtube
one extra bonus of the spinning wheels with teeth, please don't notice the noice, this will be reduced later.
Next up is a lot of coding, I am working hard on that now for the last few weeks. (3 packages of software)
Still have some surprises for you in store :D:banana::banana:
Please let me know what you think of it :D
Absolutely incredible, looks like it's going along perfectly and i can't wait to see the end result. +rep
wow man.. thats great.. im gunna reread the log.. good to see you back
EDIT: crazy!
Mate I am so sorry to hear about the fire. The upside (if there is an upside) is the Flametank is looking awesome. My brother loves C&C3 and I just showed him this and I think he wet himself lol. We have always been a fan of the C&C series, ever since we brought Tiberium Sun all those years ago. It is great to see an old classic brought to life.
well.... i havent stopped thinking of your meat pounding spike roller things all day so.. if i fail my science test its your fault
Brilliant Reproduction!!
