I was noticing by your sketchup that you're using mesh, or some type of it, to mount the HDDs. Will that hold them all? What exactly are you going to use? I used 6mm plexi to do mine, and I'm glad I went with it. The 5mm I tried with only 8 HDD started warping from teh weight before I mounted it. But the 6mm didn't. Altho yes, not top and bottom support might cause that, BUT, I prefer safety for my crapton of storage.
Well... the "mesh" you are referring to is actually 3mm perforated steel, not alu, so its more then sturdy enough to hold the disks without moving, its troublesome enough to bend by hand, so doubt a straight downforce would do anything to this one =)

Ah ok, got em mixed around lol. That one looks pretty good also, you have found a design that works and you have stuck to it, looks great. Have you ever considered making a cube?
3rd Gen was cube based... much like the lianli based one... think about it as a double atx case stuck up next to eachothers...
But really... it takes up space in the wrong direction being that wide, rather just use some wall space then ground space if u get my drift :P
