Interesting. Is that a special painting technique or just a play of the light? Either way it looks damn cool. :D
Nice ghosting! That should look killer in the sun after it's cleared.
Thanks. All I did there was spray the skull with white, and then buried it under the blue pearl. The way they react with the light is what's giving that effect. It's gonna be interesting to see this under clear.
The pearl white and sealer came in today. I got everything sprayed with sealer that wasn't already, and the whole thing is now ready for color. I might spray some tomorrow; Friday definitely.
Here's some shots of the white. The goal is to drop everything off for clear on Monday.
the white looks wicked as is, well done!
More eye candy.
This is a happy mistake. It was supposed to be two toned white and blue, but it was sitting on the bench when I sprayed the blue. It's gonna stay white now.
Chrome rims would looks beautiful on that white/blue scheme.
..or do the rims in that pearl white as well! Yowza!
So here's what happens when you get cocky and decide to do graphics before an intercoat of clear and have to wipe it off.
Out of tragedy though, comes triumph..
It's going to clear tomorrow morning!
Oooh, I like! :D
Everything is back from clear. Time to colorsand and do the graphics on the fairings, and then back to clear on Friday (hopefully). I don't have enough time to get pictures uploaded and posted tonight, but it looks awesome! Oh, and BTW.. if anyone ever invites you into a booth while spraying clear and you don't have a mask.. turn them down. I lasted maybe 30 seconds before the fumes were too much. That stuff is just plain nasty!
Here's a couple of quick shots after 2 coats of clear. These are gonna get sanded and then back for another 2 coats.
Just a quick update. Everything is colorsanded, graphics added, and I dropped the parts off for 2 more coats of clear this morning. I'll pick them up tomorrow morning, and then it's time for MORE colorsanding, then buffing, then final assembly!
It's done! Everything is very loosely mocked up on the bike at my friend's house. I'll have pictures this weekend.
can't wait to see it!
Hang tight. I should have pictures today.
Here's a few pictures of the bike very loosely put together. I hope you like it.
ah the yellow the yellow make it stop but the farings look great
ooooh, its shiny! I can totally see your reflection in the paint!
That is sweet :)
Thanks guys. Yeah, those wheels are an eyesore, but they'll be fixed this winter. Actually, the whole thing might get a fresh coat of paint. We'll see what happens.
Your paint looks great! If the wheels are going to be dealt with next winter, a quick temp fix wipe em with laquer thinner then black (or any other color) rattle can. Should hold up to a seasons worth.
Here's some finished pictures. My buddy still has a couple of parts to buy, (ram air tunnels) but my part is done. Once it's 100% complete, we'll be taking it out for a good photoshoot.
Sharp... but that yellow... =((((.... would look sexy with some white rims too, make them flat so they look like anodized alum? lol... Other than that that bike looks damn sexy
Agreed. Great job on the paint job! The wheels definitely need a change though. ;) And I think a touch of chrome (or maybe just polishing, idk) on the muffler would work wonders.
Yeah, the wheels are definitely an eyesore, but my buddy didn't break it down enough to change anything on them this time. That muffler actually needs to be replaced. The bike was layed down on that side (hence all the fiberglass work), and the muffler got pretty chewed up. So much so that we had to rivet part of it back together. He cleaned it up as best as he could with some sandpaper and a wire wheel until he can afford a new one ($400). You can kinda see some of the damage in this picture.
I know this one is old, but it's getting repainted. Here's the start. The wheels are finally getting changed this time! They're getting a white powder coat.
Very nice.. can't wait to see MOAR!!!
Sweeeeeeet!!!!!!!!
Some of the airbrushing started.
NICE! Dude this is awesome!
Thanks. I did some more last night.
Looking fantastic.. can't wait to see it under some clear!!
That looks insane bro!
Thanks guys! I'll get some more work done on this when the Hockey Xbox is done and shipped back to Eddie.
Plugging away. I'm actually using shades of violet and then covering it with a blue candy to shift it to blue. It gives a much deeper effect. Excuse the poor camera angle at the end.. I didn't include much of it.
