Hi,
It's 2012.

haha. yeah.. Hoping to get back into it. Was talking to Aldersan a bit about it this morning (3am ish). Still got the laptop and parts acquired previous. Just need to find close estimate of total parts still needed.
I found a P500 thermaltake for 20 bucks (current bid). What do you guys think? It's 500L (132G)per hour. Think this would be enough flow? Otherwise, is there something to use to make this a somewhat budget build?
I was still considering the Thermaltake Delta DC 12v 3pin at 72L (19G)per hour. I know its significantly less, but I think/hope it would be efficient enough to just keep water moving and pulling heat away.
*Remember, this isn't your standard pc heat sources.
CPU-35W
GPU- 11W
CHP- ? (use 20W?)
Total- 66W? to be safe?
You can get a MCP350 for $30 shipped. I bought 5 over on Hardforums.
Thanks. I'll have to register and keep looking, the few I found were already sold. I did find a few micro res for this that may work too. lol
the mcp35x looks like it may be another option to use.
Thanks. +rep
Ya its super small so it can fit pretty much anywhere.
Cool. Would you say the MCP350 is noisy at all?
meh. Its louder than a DCP but quieter than the MCP650 and slightly quieter than the MPC355.
lol. OK. The only thing I have to compare is the Corsair H50. Think it will cause noise issues with using a laptop which is usually fairly quite?
Depends on the fan.
For the fan, it would be in the 80mm or 120mm depending on the rad. If it was a 120, it would probably be the slim fan. 80mm, not sure yet.
Either way, I probably won't have to run at full speed. At least that is the plan, lol
Thanks.
:pics:
hey, sketches and mockups count as pics!
lol. its OK. the pics/sketches were done to the point of getting the point across, i can repaste them in here if you need. lol
I don't want to cut the angle aluminum until I get some of the larger parts to make sure it will fit inside height wise. I was looking at a thermaltake copper rad for 80mm fan, with that it could change my height predictions. They have 120 slim fans and rads but they are out of my total budget build. I could get a couple 40mmx2 rads and run them at lower RPM but I haven't found enough reviews to trust they would dissipate the heat enough. Their dimensions are what make them appealing though.
Lol so you're at the point where you have several options but no idea which one to pick? Make a decision man! :P
exactly at that point. I already made a $30 dollar mistake on the water blocks, lol. Can't make more of those. The rad is 20+ship+fan, pump is 20+ depending on one i get. Believe it or not, the metal parts for the pad is actually the cheapest part.
Thanks for the quick ship!
Here is the picture which is a "STILL IN PROGRESS" but necessary for Aldersan. lol
update 1:
New Parts list:
The blocks come with 2 compression fittings each. I will be removing 1 from each block to install a 90* swivel compression to extend to the other block. The other outlet will go to a quick disconnect for removal of laptop if/when needed. 1 quick disconnect will lead to the radiator, the other will come from the Pump. 2 straight compressions will be attached to the pump. 2 straight compressions will be attached to res. The radiator will have 2 90* swivel compression. Will have another Aldersan pic in a bit.
update 2:
Heres the pic. OH, and I donno how to add, but the pad is 17" wide, not 16.5. Somehow adding 2 standard 8.5x11 sheets of paper gave me 16.5x11. lol
Ok, so the overall loop layout won't change hopefully but I will probably use a different but similar block to the CHC-120. Unfortunately it has 1/4" barbs that are not removable. While this would be OK for this build, it doesn't allow for expandability.
Also, I made some progress with my cardboard mock-up and am now seeing just how little room is inside here. Unless I can find an ultra thin 120x2 I will be likely going with:
Magicool Pro Slim Profile (157x120x30mm or 6.3x4.7x1.2inch)
Scythe Slim 120mm (120x120x12mm or 4.7x4.7x.5inch)
Swiftech Micro Res v2 (101x38x76.2mm or 4x3x1.5inch)
another update to follow.
*update*
Block options-
GPU-200
or
CHC-122
Ultimately, either choice will raise the cost of the build, but I think the "future proof" makes up for it.

Just throwing links here so I don't lose them

Fug may have found my water blocks here- http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/f...439#post349439 Now to leave work and go measure.
ok. got the ok from the accountant to possibly buy something Monday. I measured the CPU mounting and it looks like it may fit.
Hope it works out. Awesome price for a CPU block that's brand new.
Definitely. It looks like the mounts are 2.5" diag. and about 2" from outer edge of mounting post to outer edge of mounting post. If that is the 2" they are measuring, I would be good there.
The problem I might run into is the short side is only about 1.75" from outer edge to outer edge of mounting post. Amazon had it listed as 2"x2".
When you get the block, if you can post up dimensions I'd much appreciate it. Hole patterns, block interface location, inlet/outlet centers, etc. I'm gonna need some blocks for TRON: Legacy.
If I get it. I am having second thoughts with the dimensions. I will definitely post pics though. If i order and can't use, would you buy it from me?
**update**
well, hope i don't fail again.
ORDERED::::
OCZ block
AS5
USB-3.5MM audio jack
Depends if it fits what I need it for. Not sure if it'd work or not, but need real dimensions to verify. Definitely interested in learning more about it due to it's price.
NP, I figured that. lol no sense in buying something if it doesn't fit. oh.. wait.. that is what I might be doing. lol Per Amazon tracking, expected eta Mar 2 due to free supersaver shipping. I'll throw a ruler in with some pics for dimensions once I get it.
Well i pm'd a guy over at another forum selling one of these- http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmcqupo2x.html
Since I just registered to pm them, I hope it went through. They require 50 posts before posting in their FS/FT thread.
Might have found the vga cooler. Need to double check measurements though.
Thanks to the xspc link i found the cooler, then searched and found it for sale.

Not bad. Nice price.
would be perfect if it lines up. The original ones I was looking at were about 42-50 per block.
Hmm.. Might have found a power supply for the entire thing. Would just need to do some voltage dropping for the 12v and less stuff but it is a 19v 9.5A 180 power supply for the alienware laptops.

My laptop psu is 19v 4.74a (90W). which hopefully should allow me to run the rest of the equipment off the remaining.
Amazon delivered today. I will have updates after doing a few things. Pics to follow. Don't worry. Sleep is not on my list. lol
UPDATES:::
So, the descriptions dimensions is for the block ONLY. 2x2 is the block. BOOOOO. Not even going to take it out of the package. It won't even come close unless i do it on a diagonal and drill into the actual copper block. It MAY be an option. Another 20 down the tubes:(
Anyways, here's some pics.
I think the pics are self explanatory. The last one, I tried to get the "lip" of where the block is to make contact with the heat source.
Woot woot!
No woot woot, no fit :(
If they charge you restock fees I'll buy it so your not out of pocket.
I wouldn't want you buying it just to buy it though. If you could use it, great. Good news is that the USB to 3.5mm works. lol
Size comparison.
Where'd the copper base go?
I will be able to eventually lol. I've been buying up WC gear over the past few months when I see good deals.
pm'd
UPDATE:::
Looks like Fug bought the block. I pm'd about the radiator. Hopefully I can get that. TL, if you still need other pics, let me know. I'm not shipping it 'til next week.
Looks like you got the measurements I would need. Thank you.
