looking good! it's very classy.
I laid the stencil for which to cut the mopar grill. I’ll start on it tomorrow on my day off.
I finally got around to adding the thin pin stripe above the larger stripe.
I got the Cooler Master Musketeer
For here:
I changed my mind on the Video card. I bought the 512MB DDR2 Geforce nVidia FX6600 PCI-Express card instead.
512mb on a 6600 overkill?
Any way keep up the good work!
The pin stripe really adds to the paint job. Is the musketeer going to be modded?
No. I will paint it flat black to match.
The memory came today. OCZ PC4000 Gold (2x512MB)
Should I add another pin stripe here? It'll only be a vertical stripe though.
I worked on the custom Mopar grill and yes, I know it's not perfect, but it is a start.
Here's kind of what I'm looking for.
Except I want mesh. Not thin modder's mesh, but something thicker. So I took it from this old case.
Here's what it looks like joined to the grill framing
And then again with the "M"
All the excess along the sides had to go....So I started cutting
Till I finished
And replaced the "M"
Here's kind of what to expect with the case fan attached.
One last thing. Should I leave the "M" Silver or paint it? Maybe to match the case (at least as close as possible)?
I think you should paint it, cause right now, it almost blends into the mesh. I thin it'll contrast well if you paint just the "M".
The majority thus far says Black paint.
I would have to agree with that - at least if you mean painting the "M" black. I'm sure it'll look fine with the entire thing painted or just the "M" painted, but I like the idea of the "M" contrasting colors and standing out. Maybe if you painted the mesh silver and the "M" black or something similar.
Mesh should be black with the M being green. It would match the case's paint style more than leaving the mesh unpainted.
There's a thought. I need to see if I can get a close match to the case color.for the mesh. Here's a look of the black M.
Its probably too late but I would vote for flat black mesh and a metallic blue "M" like the original logo is. Eitherway.. it will look cool! :D
EDIT: Damn I forgot to hit submit before I went to get the pizza.. I came back, hit submit, and pow, there were already pictures of the finished product above my post.. Go figure:redface:
Any who.. Looking good.. I was looking at the mesh window on the motherboard side, and thinking some of the black pinstripping around that would look pretty good. Keep up the great work.
nice work, the pinstripes will make it go faster too. :P :)
curiously, what do you think of the cooler master musketeer you posted on the last page, I was thinking of getting one myself (from what I can tell the look nice but are essentially useless - do you think its worth the money?)
I've read a couple of reviews is all. I haven't received mine yet.
The hood scoop has arrived.
Should I put the scoop farther back
Or more in the middle?
Here's the mesh. I will not be using this mesh.
For the side scoop option, I found these at Auto Zone.
If I cut them into single pieces and lie them side by side it looks like this
And this...
I think I like the first two better.
The scoop looks better in the 2nd shot.
Anyone else notice the mouse and speakers from clowned in the background?
Wow... That scoop is definatly going to look great, and even better with the top paint job. Im not really feeling the side vents, they just seem off in some way. Of course that is just my opinion. Looks like your on the home stretch with this one.. Are you going to do a keyboard and mouse with this one as well?
I got the matching ones from Aspire
I got the matching keyboard and mouse combo
And I bought the custom Dodge etch from Crazy PC
Then applied it to the window.
Then I got the hole saw for the exhaust fan on top.
The hole saw was actually too dull and I had to finish with the dremel.
I then fixed the bad hole and applied the flat black.
Then peeled off the tape.
And used the pin striping.
Nice pin stripes.
I cant wait to see the scoop ontop are you going to put a fan in the scoop so it sucks in aid or something?
Probably blows out because it is at the top of the case.
Oh yea TGS. That's looking good.
Yeah it will be an exhaust. Heat rises, so it seem stupid to fight that.
I replaced the mesh for the Hood Scoop.
And I painted the Hood Scoop to match the case.
Then I drilled out the screw holes .
Then I put the fan in and blackened the screws.
Then put the Hood Scoop perfectly on. :D
Well I woke up at 3:00 a.m. and couldn't fall back asleep so...
Just to see what it looks like, I added the drives
Then I hooked the top exhaust fan to a test PC to see it lit up.
Lastly I fixed the pin stripe so that comes from the Superbee logo and goes clear to the end of the case.
really nice case mod :) looks very clean.
i have the same keyboard, but with black/black :)Quote:
Yeah, I like the keyboard, but the mouse is pretty crappy. It's a horrible Apple-type knock off.
I went to the hobby store and spent .99 cents on some lettering.
Which added some detail to the hood scoops.
Next came the window grill. First some primer...
Then the green on the mesh.
And I made the grill frame black.
Then I bonded the Mopar "M" to the mesh
And lastly I put it all together.
And then on the panel.
I'm waiting for my motherboard to arrive so while I wait I thought I'd get some "current progress" pics.
I was wondering if I should use this old HD cooler bay front piece in place of one of the bays to "look" like a car grill? Or would it be overkill?
Also, since I lost money on the motherboard in a bad ebay transaction and since my In-Laws will be visiting in 2 weeks, I added a multifunctional floppy/media reader drive. I was going to add a Matrix Orbital LCDC, but do not have the money.
Personally, I would leave the grill out.
That's too bad about ebay. I bet that would have been sweet.
So I was looking at maybe putting the engine inside, but I think it's way too big. It sure won't fit between the drive cage rails and it would probably prevent a video card from staying in the slot.
I added some lights to the right side to shine out of the side scoops.
Here's some pics of the lights so far.
I love muscle cars, and I've been following this one, it's lookin good keep it up.
Sweet! That's looking really great! Keep up the good work.
The motherboard arrived today. (The second one I bought)
I set the Proc in
and the Hyper48 heatsink
And then the memory was seated
Lastly I replaced to IO plate
More to come. I'm gonna modify the heatsink so that it appears to have this on it.
Anyone else notice that on the mobo box there are mountain dew cans and a bawls drink?
Or the PC has a window and lights?
That is one ate up motherboard box.
Are you planning on putting the hemi head over the fan grill or what?
Yeah - well, this motherboard is called the "LAN Party", I have the same one. The case has a window and is displaying the motherboard, since it's parts glow under UV light. Also this mobo is meant for LAN parties, so the mountain dew seems fitting.Quote:

Yeah I will, but there will be an obvious gap to allow air flow.
Kudos on the great mod! It's people like you that go the extra mile to make their PC truly "One of a Kind". To go to the extent of getting a hoodscoop shows drive and determination. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see what's in store next from you!8)
wow. NIce work. Keep it up!
And after all this work, I'm giving it away on Sept 10th to my In-Laws!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's another pic of the motherboard with all the cards, thus far.
I put the glass back on the front too.
I also have been doing a bit of Soldering to take out the switches these cathodes come with. I don't want a bunch of switches on the back panel. When you power up the lights come on and then they turn off when you power down.
For the loose lighting cables...
...I'm glueing them all down. Trust me, a glue gun is always nice to have around.
Lastly, I'm thinking of adding a UV cathode above the motherboard. There will be a few UV cathodes inside to really show off the UV sensitive Mobo.
looking great, although those lights at the front :|
i don't like them too much, sorry
