Ohaa. . You tried Both.
Your may have to call ur ISP and get them to reneg on there end, and Push DHCP.
Just tell the tech you tried both USB and Ethernet.
Did you plug both of them in at the same time? Don't
Do get mad get even, and on the internet with the thing!
Foreal Delete all the Local Area Connections, Reboot, and let it make you a new one.
When you get it fixed you can say. .HaHaaaa I'm on the Internet now Mobo and do the Banana dance
I tried the sfc /scannow and it went all the way through.
lol, no i didn't plug them in both at the same time. i dont get why theyd have to renew on their end if its working with this laptop??
Uninstall the network drivers and remove all the local area connections from the list.
Reboot. . Then It will search for them. . insert driver disc or floppy.
And make a new Local Area connection
it wont let me delete it.
I dont know what else to tell ya man. . Everything from there on out is preddy technical . . Reg editing.
Just Install windows agian.
That's what I'm doing right now... hopefully it works. and to think this was just going to be a nice and easy install... 20 min max. HA! woulda been if the internet didn't mess up for whatever reason.
Also, thank ALL of you for helping and following the thread.
oh man this sounds like what happened to me sorta. i got a new hdd and went to install xp on it and everything went great but when i went to go use the internet nothing worked. after getting really pissed i looked for every cd that came with the computer and realized i never installed the drivers for the onboard ethernet plug. after that it worked fine. but from quickly reading through this thread i think thats already been ruled out. so all i can say its i feel your pain.
would this be the proper drive(s)??

ya I'm beyond frustrated... should i install any others besides the "Auto installation program (support WinXP 64/Win98SE/WinME/Win2K/WinXP ver.663))(Submission ID: 1245904)"
Get yourself a copy of knoppix and see if it'll detect the NIC. If it does, then you know it's something buggy with Microsoft (Surprise!).
Download the .ISO here, and burn it as an bootable CD. If you've got third party burning software, make it a data disk. If you don't have a third party burning program, http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm is a 'powertool' for XP.

I tried downloading knoppix and it sent me to an ftp with v3-v5 and im not sure which one to download.
I'm guessing KNOPPIX_V5.1.1CD-2007-01-04-EN.iso
anything else?
Nope, just the .ISO. Then, make sure you have boot from CD set in your BIOS. You should be all set. Make sure you burn it as a CD Image.
i forget but with iso's dont u have to mount the image to disk?
is this right?
is it possible to download ms updates without it automatically installing them? maybe i can burn them and install them if it turns out to be something wrong with ms
just a thought... i downloaded the "Auto installation program (support WinXP 64/Win98SE/WinME/Win2K/WinXP ver.663))(Submission ID: 1245904)"
should i download the "WinXP 64 and WinXP Driver" as well?
I assumed the 1st one was the 2nd one, just installed it for you?
i was looking in the bios and it says "network group boot priority [not installed]
i dont think this has anything to do with it but maybe? im despret for a fix haha
Also, i dont see "boot from CD" anywhere in bios
uhhh...tried restarting with knoppix............

10-15 hours of hell... plus hours of lukifer's help...
turned out to be as simple as resetting the modem... wow.
thanks again luke! +342987 rep for everything
hahahha!!! Is that all it was?!
OMFG... well, we covered absolutely everything possible, short of reinstalling the OS, so it better work great now. :D
hahaha, figures... did i respond to that? because I think that may have been the one post i missed.
I'm glad you finally make it work :)
ROFL Just read through this thread and the solution was hilarious, lol. I've had the same little stupid issues, lol. I had one little thing wrong in the BIOS and that was causing the keyboard and mouse to not work, lol, although it was also the fact that the keyboard was defective to begin with... just a lot of simple things, lol... man, what a useless post...
