HAHAHA, I just pulled apart a bricked Seagate Free Agent. Gonna use the enclosure as a home for my Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB when I upgrade to a 2TB drive. Was pretty good fun pulling apart the dead drive also, the platters are really shiny lol.
"Knights of Cydonia" - Muse
that reminds me...I'll never forget the sound one night, middle of the night I wake up and can only think WTF!!! I'd left my computer on, and there was this unearthly sound emanating from it, sounded kinda like the violins in that scene in The Shining. Super loud, I had no idea an HDD could make that noise. turns out my (older) secondary hard drive had quite literally just died. I lost all data on it, I'm guessing the motor was completely hosed. Twas exactly 5 years old. Luckily I didn't really lose much of anything, I had it all saved on my primary drive too. That's when I bought my SSD. :) good excuse. I lost a little data when my first SSD died after 30 days, for some reason hadn't backed up the My Docs folder, but I didn't keep much in there. the replacement SSD has been running great since May '09.
As far as listening, I've been listening to some of Liszt's piano transcriptions of other composers pieces, and I've recently been practicing and playing 3 piano pieces written to be played with left hand alone: an Etude by Sergei Bortkiewicz, and a Prelude and Nocturne by Alexandr Scriabin. wonderful pieces, and fun to play. :)
