This is fine. Just let me know what you want me to do or what your going to do,... do I get a reward or something for having the most pages?!?!? I'll take a sexy women and a cake. Thanks. Oh,... and, one of my other logs has 110pages! LOL. Going to ask them for a sexy women and cake too. LOL.
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
lol, if you share the sexy woman and cake ill help persuade Dave get you it lol.
Nice stuff, but i'll be unhappy if the next update has no Sponge Bob torture.
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
I dont have sponge bob. I have to get more sponge bob toys. SB in in rotterdam! LOL. Dennis is torturing him now. I'll get another SB and others too.

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
Make sure you do a SBC (Sponge Bob Cast) kebab xD

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
Ok,... check it out. These letters are not final. I'm goign to go back and tweak some of them. I dont like how how of them turned out. But still it's very cool.
Aug-17-2007
The font style im going with,...
Very nice.
Cut em out with the scroll saw.
Tracing for the uv equiv's,...
Making long rivets. I'm using heat this time. I need the head to look nice and uniform all the way around. I need them to mash into the letter countersinks as good as possible.
The iron mold sink,...
Letter countersinks.
Rivets in place,...
Front side,...
Up close,...
Posts installed. This was a pain in the ass. The threaded opposts are made of zinc which heat up red hot quick! Next time,... I do not want to use heat to install the posts. I only want to use heat to mash the latter side of the rivet into the rivet countersink. They look sloppy but just need a bit cleaning up.
Here's the lettter side with a quick sanding. Can barely see the rivets:)
Decided to round the letters.
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
Drill the post holes in the acrylic. the other little holes were only pilot holes to make this step easier.
So damn cool.
Sample,...
Mounting the letters to another piece of aluminnum for polishing. All the holes are for the other letters.
BOOOYAAA!!!
Killer,...
You see the "A". Thats what I want! Some of the other letters are not as good. I think they need to be sanded a bit more. It's a game of chance though. If the rivet head are mashed in there good,... more sanding will help. IF there are more gaps,... it will get worse. I think im going to chance it and sand a bit more to see what happens.
You see how the "O" sint as good as the "U" and "T"?
So hot.
the back. Next time I want to try and hollow out a smaller diameter bolt. Next time I want to use stainless steel and not zinc.
Going to look bad @ss,...

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
Small update.
Aug-18-2007
My new "B"! Looks a lot better! The old "B" looks too whole?!?!
Came out pretty nice. You can see that rivet a bit though. It's not really that visible,... the cam is just bring it out and throwing it in your face really. YHou can hardly see them in person. I actaully fixed the others nicely! I heat up the rivet heads and tapped them with the hammer. I think it's called plenishing?!?! The process of smoothing out with a hammmer. After plenishing,... a bit of sanding and polishing again and they are practically gone.
The background cover. I'm cutting what I need off of this old piece of aluminum I got cheap at a scrap yard. You wouldnt believe and many sheets like you they had there!!! Scrap yards have a ton of material that is very usable for what we do and for very cheap!
There's my piece that I need to cut. This aluminum is very hard. Not all that good for bend. It tears because its so hard. I believ with enough heat you can bend it but it is hard. I have a lot of sanding to do.
Sanded it clean. OMG! I started with the 80 grit paper and damn,... after 15 minutes I had to get out the 40! There were a lot of deep scratched from whatever was used to give this panel the brushed look.
The area in which this thing will cover. You see how there some of the mobotray that wont be covered? Thats because of the hardware on the side panels. these bars have to fit in there. I actually dont mind. It goes along with the idea of covering up stuff but not all of it. sounds wierid I know. Later on in the future when I start working on cEVO,... you'll see.
This is it for now. Going to sleep and then go back.

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
It's amazing how you made those mountings on the letters. Really great job, i wouldn't have thought about such a way to mount them in my whole modding life.
I would have used a crew with a nice flat head and glue him with some superglue on the back of the letter. But you.....
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
I liked your previous B, but must say this B looks even better. Great innovative modding.

Ehh someone asked me why I did it this way instead of gluing and my answer was,... i'm I like rock solid, hardware. You know what I mean?

Awesome work man! +rep
(I like the new "B" better too)
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
Wowza. That is incredible. You must be a very patient man. If I was doing that, I'd either end up with a crap B or 3 fingers on the floor.
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
yeah... the new B fits the case better:P... best thing ever to happen with that case dude:p

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
Damn,... it's been stupid busy around here. Mom had to go to the hospital again. she's got a DVT(clot) in her leg. WE're thinking its a complication from her leg injury from the motorcycle accident she was in. I think she'll be ok:\ Anyways,... what i was able to get done,..
Aug-22-2007
Respect to A.C Ryan, The Studio, and Myself:) These are kind of like the letters I used for the NKCM reservoir. Theses are bigger and less broken up, simpler, easier to read.
Drilled and ready for the scroll saw.
Cut and filed! Damn! I'm getting good at this!!! LOL!
The back side. Look how clean that is.
Polished buts needs more work:\
Was messing around with a UL LED and some acrylic tubes. That tube is like 6' long! Look at it! LOL. I have many different diameters. This one seemed to work very well.
Much better!
BOOYAKA!!

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
Yea baby! Come get some!
WHAAAAAAAA!!!! YEA!
UV green backing.
Decided to wire up the LEDs,..... now:)
Sanded the tips of the LEDs off.
Damn. Blurry. I think the cam is focusing on the reflection. Look I'm wearing a shirt! It's crazy dirty though. ick. The LEDS are flush with the surface.
ARGH!!! Whos the man! Damn that looks good,...
Behind the tinted acrylic. Think I will flame polish the Uv green backing to help bring out the light.
Delicious!
God I am loving this LED panel. Cant wait to wire it all up.
Ok so yea. As I was working with the Uv LEDs I noticed that some of them were dim as hell. Actually a lot of them. Some were REALLY dim and others were just not as bright as the ones I currently have in the LED panel. I used 3v(2 x 1.5v AA's) to test all of them and I got something different for each one, either nice and bright, a bit dim, and really dim. S@#$ some were so dim they looked dead. What the hell is up with this? I had these LED's for a while in a sealed anti-static bag. I had them for like almost 2 years. they dont expire do they? Studpi question? I should test my other colors to see if I experience the same thing. Whatelse? I dont know. I forgot to get wire to rig these thing up. I have wire but it's wither to thick or borderline to thick or way thin. You think the inner wires of a CAT5 cable is to thin to supply power tot he LEDs? I would like to think no but I'm thinking yes. I have to find a 24 hour store that sells wire, LOL. I'm going back to the studio now,... 11:18pm, BYE!

Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
Nice, did you tried white led's on the blackout letters as well? It seems to be that edges are better lit up with white instead of UV led's
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
OMFg, that's soo hot!
And 100 pages of worklog :p
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
Congrats on 100 pages, this mod just gets better and better.
I think cat5 wire should be fine for leds, they really have a low amperage and use very little power.
-
Re: TRIBALOVERKILL, "Blackout"
it looks so....um...its so...errr....
WORD DO NOT DESCRIBE ITS AWESOME-NESS
