Interesting Australia appears to be a mix of British and American or maybe it is jsut where I live there are lots of retired Americans about. I almost got run over by an escalade the other day and I don't think they even sell those here.

My personal favourite, which caused all sorts of hilariously awkward moments with my British cousins:
UK: Flip-flops
Aus: Thongs
Dungarees != Overalls.

at least round here, anyway.
British - Pissed = drunk
American - Pissed = me after talking to my boss :)

In the U.S. it would go more like this
Coveralls or Jumpsuit =

UK: Lift
US: Elevator
Then there is something, a flat. Not sure what the exact US equivalent is, but I think it is an appartment.

US ... Fag = man who digs other men
