Re: Project: New Mustang GT
Thanks for the input, but I have actually already put part of it in place before I saw any of it :lick:. Anyway I left aligned it, much to the dismay of Cheron and nevermind1534. I dont know what I should do with the right space.
Actually the only picture I have of it is this one, in the far corner, but believe me I did a lot of work on it today!
Now, some pics of recent buys:
This is actually a gutter guard, but I think it will work great for mesh.
(Thanks NightrainSrt4)
Removing the hinges:
Also I think It looks kind of like a Mustang grill anyway!
Here is a clear plastic briefcase I found that I will use to make the window:
And here is a (Saturn) rear view mirror that I am planning to cut "GT" out of. Does anyone know how to cut a mirror?
Interesting side note: the mirror is mirror on both sides. 8)
Here are a few possible materials to make a hood scoop out of:
I was thinking the trash can but it is a bit floppy. Maybe I could reinforce it with the floppy sheet of metal.
As you may have noticed a lot of this stuff I had laying around.
More soon!
Re: Project: New Mustang GT
umm.. mirror.. cutting...
idk.. tile cutter?
Re: Project: New Mustang GT
To cut the mirror, a tile/glass cutter will do the straight edges - afraid I have NO clue how you'd go about doing the curves though... A file would probably just chip the hell out of it, or have no effect at all. Might be worth getting some scrap glass - a bottle or something and trying different things with that - WITH eye protection of course lol - I wonder if it could be ground down with sandpaper & block???
Re: Project: New Mustang GT
I did some looking around...
You can get a couple of diamond attachments for Dremel, like this one,
http://www.amazon.com/Dremel-545D-54.../dp/B00004UDI9
or here, for a better price,
http://www.ehobbytools.com/index1.html
I guess you can also get a diamond grinding attachment would probably be easier for the curves.
Or you could go fancy,

Good work Joonce, good matching mesh for the theme too :).

Re: Project: New Mustang GT
I got my hood scoops for Superbee, Cuda 440, and Mustang GT350 on ebay
Re: Project: New Mustang GT
Thanks everyone, and Mark thanks for the links. I think I may buy from here.
So if I cut with a normal reinforced cut off disk you think it will break? How about a grinding wheel or something? I guess I'll just try the diamond ones.
Chaos Theory I am just a moneyless 16 year old too! I guess I'm not totally moneyless though. But most of the materials I am using I got for cheap or free, and I can usually get my dad to pay for anything he thinks he could use, like drill bits, rivet guns, and saw blades. :)
If I cant make a hood scoop myself I may have to order one thanks TheGreatSatan. Also I had never seen your Mustang GT350 before, may I ask where you got the gold vinyl? I was thinking of painting a side stripe under the window, but vinyl would be so much easier and I can't find any on Amazon. I found this though I might get.
So I didnt do much today, but what I have done I present to you:
Drilled 3/8" hole.
Used ancient jig saw with new blade
Worked quite well, was really easy to cut the steel.
And here you can kind of see the side panel design.
I was planning on having a 120mm fan in the bottom left there, but that covers a lot of the window, so I stopped after the first cut on the panel to think about the design.
And that is all.
