Re: You're so stupid you ran into a parked car!
Well, it's official, the bike is totaled. The total cost to fix it at one place is $4991, and that is a LOT higher than the bike is worth so I'm not even going to bother trucking it elsewhere. The company I'm dealing with is going to hire a private appraiser (stupid) to total it for them, and I should get the NADA value plus tax, tag, and title fees, or so I hope. I'm going to try and get them to give me the bike back on top of the payout so I can fix it overtime, but we'll see. I'll let everyone know when I get the next bike I can brag about, haha.

aw man...I sure hope this is one of those situations that ends up working out better this way than if it wasn't totaled, good luck!!
It's amazing the amount of damage that can be done even at very low speeds...it's a good reminder to be careful out there.

Force = Mass X Acceleration
Cars are heavy. Trucks even more so.
Last year, a guy was riding a bike across a street here and got hit by a slow moving city dump truck. The truck didn't even know he obliterated the guy on the bike until a car stopped him at a traffic light. The truck was doing under 20mph.
Truck 1. Bike 0.
The potential impact force of other moving vehicles is dangerous enough...put an inattentive driver behind the wheel and it gets scary.:dead:
